Presidential Candidates Obi And Atiku Drag President Tinubu To The Supreme Court.

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and that of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, on Monday September 19, 2023 lodged separate appeals before the Supreme Court of Nigeria asking that the election that produced President Bola Tinubu as President of Nigeria....

The two candidates, in their appeals, prayed the apex court to set aside the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, which affirmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of the February 25, presidential election.

They argued that the lower court erred in its judgment because Tinubu did not get at least 25 per cent of votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, and that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, deliberately refused to transmit the results of the poll electronically to its portal in accordance with its guidelines.

They also argued that the PEPC glossed over their claims of manipulation of the poll, conducted in breach of the constitution and electoral act in spite of their weighty evidence.

Atiku, through his consortium of 67 lawyers that comprised 18 Senior Advocates of Nigeria led by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, filed 35 grounds of appeal to challenge Tinubu’s victory, Obi, through his own team of lawyers led by Dr. Livy Uzoukwu, SAN, filed 51 grounds of appeal before the apex court.

  1. No problemo
Let's watch and see how everything goes

  2. All eyes on the supreme court ✌️

  3. It'll be better if Atiku and Obi just let this be. Make all of them rest o

  4. I love how they approached the supreme court. Let it be on record that the supreme court will also embarrass, rubbish and ridicule themselves just last the tribunal judges did.

On another news, Atiku won on the suit he filed in the US. The Judge had ruled that Chicago university release the results of the Tinubu that attended the college in 48hours.

Interesting times ahead. We will know if it's a she or he finally.

    1. Tell your people to provide evidence and stop whipping public sentiment and wearing black to cry upandan.Law is about evidence or the lack of it.

    2. But Tj, i remember the day u clearly mentioned that Obi has done it before, he has grace he is likely going to do it again while referring to his victory in the Anambra state governorship election petition back then. So at that time, when the courts took it from somebody and gave him, they were not compromised, they did not ‘embarrass’ and ‘rubbish’ themselves. However, now that he lost this time around, thesame Nigerian judiciary that gave him earlier, are now compromised and riddled with corruption.
So my question is, is it only when the justice system favors Obi that it is truly just? Anytime he doesnt win a court case, justice it means justice wasn’t served?
This is a sincere question free from any insults. I ask because by my training as a lawyer, i was taught that justice doesn’t mean always winning cases or securing convictions, sometimes the justice is in losing the case too.

  5. Supreme court they should keep wasting there time and resources as if we don't know what the outcome will be, God please have mercy on this country things are no longer funny.

  6. Lawyers should keep cashing out. If Atiku and Obi had read the judgement of the PEPC or appeared on the dayof judgement instead of using court seats for fashion parade and photo op, they would have known the difference between a requirement and a guideline. They would also have known that votes are allocated to states and territories.

Since they were very busy on the day of the judgement and did not pay attention when their lawyers refused to tender evidence they made a show of getting from inec, let them use supreme court to stimulate the economy some more. We all have a part to play.
