A student on his way to write his WAEC exam was killed by a stray bullet allegedly fired by a policeman in Ibadan. The policeman was reportedly chasing a suspect when he fired the bullet that hit the student. The victim was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident sparked a protest, with youths taking the student's body to the Oyo State Government Secretariat to demand action from Governor Seyi Makinde.
Comrade Yemi Ezekiel Bello condemned the killing, urging the Inspector General of Police to investigate, and noted that according to reports, the officers acted unprofessionally, adding that the student's father had been caring for him and his sibling alone since their mother left seven years ago.
