Imo state Governor Hope Uzodinma hosted a grand reception on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, for seven Imo State natives who were part of Nigeria’s Super Falcons team that clinched the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.
The celebrated players include goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie,Osinachi Ohale, Tochukwu Oluehi, Jennifer Echegini, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Anam Imo, and Esther Okoronkwo.
The governor reportedly gifted each of the seven players $25,000 as a token of appreciation for making Imo State proud.

The selection didn't sit well with some people though. They argued that he should have hosted the entire team.
