Pastor Adeboye Warns Christians Not To Prioritize Material Wealth Over Spiritual Well-being

Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God  has warned christians against prioritizing material wealth over their spiritual well being. He described such pursuits as "an act of stupidity"

While speaking during the church ongoing 73rd Annual convention themed "The Overcomers", he emphasized on the need for believers to maintain spiritual discipline and resist worldly temptations if they are to live victoriously in Christ.

In his words;
"God does not hate enjoyment,
But the body you pamper, shine, and make up will perish one day. Take care of the spirit, for that is what will go to heaven.
The body does not want you to be an overcomer.
If you are pursuing wealth at the expense of your soul, that would be stupidity,
What happens when you die? How many of those things can you take with you?”

  4. You should ask yourself those questions. Mtcheew. Why don't you give up all your wealth and lead by example? Give up all your mansions and cars. Give up all your wealth. Mtcheew. Fake pastors. They will tell you to pray for protection while they have bodyguards. Tell you to give up the riches of the world while they have billions stashed in their foreign accounts.

    3. You need help to think right about public figures.

All the frontliners in the Body of Christ in Nigeria have a history known to all and sundry.

Pastor Adeboye resigned from a lecturing job to become a General Overseer of a church with less than 1,000 members. He was/is dedicated to the work which attracted millions of souls all over the world.

He is blessed by God through gifts, offerings, and proceeds from his books, videos, and audio tapes which people willingly buy because they get value from his ministration.

So, pray, tell why you consider him a fake pastor.

The above is true of Pastor Kumuyi, Bishop Oyedepo, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, and many others.

These men of God abandoned their life and career to pursure God's purpose at a time when pastoral work was synonymous to wretchedness.

      Please be guidded.

      Note:
I do not subscribe to some practices in the mainstream Christianity in Nigeria; but what I posted above is true of many of the spiritual leaders in Nigeria. They should be praised for their vision, resillience, and sacrifices.

I have done several days of fasting nonstop for close to fifteen years and clocked many hours of night prayers, yet I am not anywhere close to these emminent men of God. They have paid their dues.

Much respect to men of God occupying for Christ in Nigeria.

    4. Exactly! these excessively wealthy ministers cannot ever call out the rich because Jesus told them to give up their wealth as a test of their faith. Imagine someone who has not missed a meal except by choice guiding those who have nothing, telling them that they should not pursue wealth. Jesus a carpenter didn't even build a house for himself because he had no need for a structure, because his home was in his Father. These ministers have multiple homes with numerous rooms sitting on vast estates and see themselves as fitting to give others spiritual guidance on money matters and other forms of spiritual guidance. People better prioritize their one-on-one relationship with their Creator and seek wisdom so they can spot the bullshyt when it comes along from whatever source.

    6. Proudly Foodie, get out with your useless chatgpt answer. He is a fake pastor just like the others. He started with 1000 members yen yen. Take 50k a month in offerings etc from 1000 members and tell me if he was not enjoying the money more than a lecturer. He ain't no fool but he ain't smarter than God. Tell him to give up is wealth and live like Jesus and the early apostles. He wrote this, made video that etc. Who did that help if not his pockets while deceiving his gullible lazy followers who were chasing riches just like him, thinking that by buying his products they would get money and success. I'm not the original poster but your reply pissed me off. Wake up and stop allowing these so called men of god to deceive you. Know God for yourself.

      Your comment was not unexpected.

First, I don't use ChatGpt to write or post comments.

In your haste to vent your anger you failed to see typos in my comment.

Artificial Intelligence don't make typographical errors. They also don't write with feelings.
I am not sure if any AI platform knows the story of RCCG transition from the first General Supretendent to the current General Overseer - Pastor E. A Adeboye.

How old were you in 1973 OR, more recently in 1977 and 1980?
Those were the periods that Pastor Adeboye was an interpreter for the founder of RCCG - Pa Josiah Akindayomi.

The baton was transferred to Pastor Adeboye after the founder died. There were 39 mushroom branches with headquarters at Agege.

You should ask around what image was associated with pastors or full time ministry back in the 1970s to 1990s.

Second, I am a pastor in training and waiting in the wings to step into a very Big shoe in the Kingdom, so let me share with you briefly my journey up to this point:

I was a high flyer in America with a cash up to $400K in my brokerage account.

The LORD instructed me to move back to Nigeria in 2004. I obeyed and the first setback that greeted me was a loss of 4.8 million dollars...God consoled me and said I should brace up for a rough time.

It was rough. It was tough. I have options to bail out of the process but received grace to endure...for what? Anointing .

I will come back to this discussion very soon.

Talk of sacrifices, the frontlines paid their dues.

      I needed to rush out.
.could not finish my comment cause I used my son's smartphone.

I usually make typo errors with my daughter's phone because screen is partly damaged.

      Later..will return.

    8. Like I said. Proudly Food or whatever. Get out with this nonsense. You are a pastor in training yet look at your name on a gossip blog for that matter. A place where they discuss and embody the world this is where a pastor like you is found defending another fake pastor. The irony. I just came back from my night shift. You see not everyone is pretending to be men of God to cash out. We work hard for our money not by deceiving others.

There is a virus running in the blood of many Nigerians
The name of the virus is classism. The rich are infected by it and, surprisingly, the poor among Nigerians have it too. This is the reason the Tiger Generator (the smallest and cheapest) is nicknamed "I better pass my neighbour" The nickname is a reflection of the mentality of many Nigerians who, unfortunately, are very poor.

It is the poor mindset that makes many of you to consider it abnormal for the highly placed to ttt with the poor. Sorry to burst you bubble: Stella's blog is a School approved by God for me to learn the ways of the World and the Secrets of Women; and my blog name is intended to make me approachable. The Lord Jesus mingled with people of all classes when He lived in the flesh.

I was naive and uninformed about the World, but I have learned on this blog what I could never have learned through revelation or byformal training, so suck it up I am a high flyer regardless where my obedience to God has led, or is leading, me.

I do not relate with people based on age, education, religion, or exposure. I relate based on the fact that they are human.

This discussion is not about you or Pastor Adeboye or ministers of God. Many blog visitors and millions of Nigerians will read it and have a sober reflection.

As a Nigerian, be very careful how you talk online.

Now concerning your frustration about frontliners in God's service: I want to inform you that religious leaders are not responsible for the poor state of Nigeria

The black race is very poor all over the world, compared to other races. The poverty of mindset noticeable in the black race is traceable to poor cognitive functions stack

Out of about 56 countries where blacks are the majority, Bahamas is the richest while other black people dominated countries are poor depending on the ratio of black-white -other races. The higher the number of black people in any country, compared to other races in that same country, the poorer the country becomes; so tell me how spiritual leaders are the cause of poverty in black populated countries.

Spiritual leaders go through intense pressure for character formation before God anoints them for service. It is the anointing that makes them valuable and attractive to people.

By the way, I am not pursuing enduement of power (approval) so I can live on offerings from people. I have a career as Software Developer/Market Analyst which God interrupted for a while so I can learn how to be human and an effective Witness for Christ.

My platfom will hit the marketplace by August ending. When the platform is launched, haters of Christ In the world and bitter souls in God's kingdom will bow and glorify God for His love and kindness.

  7. Unfortunately, the world we live in worships money and money is the god on earth. Everyone bows to its power and need it to survive, even you. Only those still living in their ancient ways and who still live off the land do not care about it. How many ppl can do proper prayers and supplications with all the demands in their lives? Ppl are pushed to the limit to sacrifice their spiritual devotion these days. Those who are hungry and on limited or no income do not even have the capacity to think straight and center God in their lives, they have NO peace and their minds are constantly taken up with the needs that they cannot meet because they do not have money.

Your petition should be to the governments of the earth to create a new economical model that gives everyone a good quality of life with all their needs(food, water, shelter, education, health) automatically decently met, not shoving ppl into ghettos and places that are unsavory to exist in. This way ppl are not bound to money and the pursuit of it, but can use their talents, education and gifts to co-create with God and develop life on earth, making it a joy for anyone to be here. Hopefully, if such a system existed many of the vices would disappear, because there would be no need for anyone to do anything illegal, immoral, or sinful to survive. Nobody would have to compromise their spiritual life. We are the only creatures on this planet who need to pay to be here, and where the majority of humans live in poverty or substandard conditions. The average person is not the problem, the system is. Ministers like yourself need to start looking at the bigger picture and calling out lawmakers, policymakers, governments and those with the power who create these oppressive structures.

I do not know how any person can look around and see all the suffering and pain and be content in their soul because their life is good. Even telling ppl to not pursue wealth at the expense of their spiritual lives comes from a place of privilege, because you would first empathize with the conditions and realities of the many in the country before putting out this statement. This is what Jesus had, the empathy, and he called out the institutions who kept a yoke around the ppl's neck and trapped them in systems that diminished their worth and quality of life. Why are so many ministers today afraid to walk in the true steps of Jesus? They always focus on the individuals never speak of the economical structures and the systems of oppression all around.
