Akintola died on Monday, September 29, 2025, after a brief illness.
Reacting in a statement on Tuesday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, described the development as “another sad incident,” noting that it came at a time when the state was still reeling from the recent deaths of other female local government officials.
Oladejo, on behalf of the party leadership and members across Lagos, extended condolences to Akintola’s immediate family, the people of Coker Aguda LCDA, the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, and her colleagues in the local government system.
Mrs Akintola’s death adds to a worrying list of recent losses among female council officials in Lagos. Since the inauguration of the current council administration on July 27, 2025, four others have passed away:
August 13, 2025: Mrs Oluwakemi Rufai, Councillor for Ward C, Ibeju Lekki Local Government.
August 18, 2025: Mrs Zainab Shotayo, Councillor for Ward C, Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA.
September 20, 2025: Princess Oluremi Ajose, Vice Chairman, Badagry West LCDA.
September 21, 2025: Mrs Basirat Oluwakemi Mayabikan, Councillor for Ward F, Somolu Local Government.

They've killed her with juju as usual. That's why a sane person will never get into Nigerian politics.
ReplyDeleteJuju can also back fire on those who choose to employ it. This is why anyone thinking to tie themselves into any job, relationship, business, friendship, or anything they think they need to hold and secure should think twice.
