Nigeria's DSS Dismisses 115 Personnel And Warns Against Imposters

The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 personnel as part of its ongoing reforms and released their pictures to the public. The agency issued a disclaimer warning citizens to avoid dealing with any dismissed officers posing as active DSS staff.

‎The statement reads:

‎"DSS Dismisses 115 Personnel

‎As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period.

‎In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel.
‎Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service. "

  1. Since they are secret police is it safe to release their pictures to the public

  2. Meritorious recruiting and proper company leadership and culture could prevent people going into silos in sensitive agencies. The last administration was one of the worst with this agency. A previous boss was alleged to have been manufacturing allegations to keep people in check and was accused of counting dollars openly in his office everyday. To remove this amount of young looking staff and mostly from certain areas, it's clear this clean up was necessary because the foundation was faulty. The difference between the DSS of them and now is clear though there's room for improvement

My hope is that they will be closely monitored so as not to constitute a national problem later. People who were brought in for the cheque and the politics may have no guilt about using skills (of they garnered any) to line their pockets at the cost of Nigeria's safety and sovereignty.

This is a bold move by this government o. I hope they can quickly replace them in a way that reflects federal character if this sacking is not trimming excess luggage.
