Taking drugs doesn't make you an addict. I have smoked weed twice in my life and I am about as far from being an addict as it gets. I barely drink alcohol today and when I do it's about 3%, those few times a year intake doesn't make me an alcoholic.

There is a power imbalance in their relationship with regards to age, his wealth and political influence and she can easily say she did it to please him and make him happy - especially since dv has been mentioned then pleasing him would be something she needed to do for her safety. Since the drug taking is isolated within their seck life she has added context which would mean that it was only during those occasions that she took it to enhance their lovemaking. Couples do all sorts of things to enhance their intimacy so taking substances to enhance lovemaking is on the low end of the scale of strange things to me.
