Motherhood And Fatherhood Chronicle

Being a parent is not a Joke at all.....
I do not Joke when i say that being a parent can shake your mental health.....It is a duty that one needs to be ready to perform or it breaks you!

Becoming a parent shook me cos of the changes i had to make to myself and surroundings..My old habits that was not child friendly had to go..
Motherhood was not easy in the beginning, one day i cut off all my dreadlocks and only realised what i had done the next day...LOL

  2. Unless one is not intentional, parenting (fatherhood and motherhood) will test the elasticity of your responsibility, endurance, discipline and leadership. For me, I find that I have to grow with my child. Learn, relearn, unlearn, everyday. It’s a lot and nothing but the experience itself prepares you for it.
God help all good and striving parents out there 🙏

    1. @Rhod3s, I agree with the core of this reflection. Parenting is not a static role; it is a continuous stress test of character, values, and self-mastery. Without intention, it exposes gaps in patience, consistency, emotional regulation, and leadership very quickly. The idea of growing with the child is particularly sound—effective parenting demands adaptability. What worked yesterday may fail tomorrow, and the willingness to learn, unlearn, and relearn is what separates conscious parenting from reactive parenting.

That said, it is also important to recognise that experience alone is not sufficient if it is not paired with reflection. Many people repeat patterns daily without growth. Parenting refines those who are deliberate about self-examination and correction. In that sense, it is both a responsibility and a mirror. It does not just raise children; it reveals adults.

  3. It's not easy at all. It takes everything from you, EVERYTHING.
But in all, we thank God for the privilege. We'll continue to do our best with God on our side. I pray that God continues to strengthen us all and all our labour and sacrifices will not be in vain.
