The Edo State Migration Agency (EDMA) recently arrested and paraded more than 20 women in Benin City, for engaging in olosho work.

Most of the women said they only turned to doing olosho work to survive, support their children, and meet basic needs, and expressed willingness to stop if the government would empower and assist them.
A video from the operation showed the women lined up in public while agency officials addressed journalists, describing the raids as part of efforts to curb olosho work, combat human trxfficking, and protect the state’s image.
However, some Olosho's claimed that EDMA officials extorted them and publicly humiliated them by recording and circulating videos of their arrests despite assurances that the footage would not be posted online.
Several alleged that officials demanded between ₦15,000 and ₦50,000 for their release and still shared the videos on social media with their faces visible...

DeleteWhen you have graduates living in a country who cannot secure work for years, and where so many citizens must travel to distant shores for mere survival, then what is expected of those with less education.
ReplyDeleteThis work is done everywhere, even in the so-called modest countries and those under strict law. I’m not sure what the humiliation is supposed to achieve. They are working, not robbing the country blind through corruption, doing rituals, or kidnapping and ki!!ing ppl. There are a great many worst actions in the nation that what these women are doing. Even the police bribing them are slimy.
Those who desire to leave this line of work should be helped, those who are happy with their work should be left to their happiness.
Dont mind the hypocrites. Go to Mammy road (Boundary road), Mararaba, you will see police patronizing the prostitutes. So shameless, they even park their operational vehicle in front of the mammy. The are inside fucking the same prostitutes they are complaining about.
