
Under the plan, all doctors get an extra ₦200,000 monthly, while house officers receive an additional ₦100,000 tax‑free allowance.
Health Commissioner Dr. Joseph Onojaeme said the adjustment raises entry‑level doctors’ pay from ₦370,000 to ₦570,000, and house officers from just over ₦250,000 to above ₦350,000, plus the new ₦100,000 allowance. The package is called the MORE Special Allowance.
The move followed a recruitment drive where over 6,000 applied, but very few doctors turned up. The governor hopes the improved pay will help retain medical staff and strengthen healthcare across Delta’s hospitals and clinics.
