Opposition Leaders Protest At INEC Over ADC Leadership Dispute

On Wednesday April 8, 2026 in Abuja, top opposition politicians took to the streets in a protest called “Occupy INEC”.
They want the Independent National Electoral Commission to officially recognize David Mark as the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party.

The leaders who joined the protest include Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, Aminu Tambuwal and Dino Melaye.
A large crowd of ADC supporters marched with them towards the INEC headquarters.

  1. The rate northerners are aligning with this party (ADC) you would think Buhari has resurrected and the one positioning himself in the party to be elected for a third time.

The truth is that, APC brought this whole threat of the opposition on themselves. If they didn't sponsor unrest in Labour Party and PDP, I believe Peter Obi and Atiku would have remained in their various parties and opposition votes divided. The more they have tried to stiffle the opposition using willing tools and proxies to destabilise oppositions, they succeeded in uniting the oppositions. I boldly say this, with the momentum on ground, APC stands no chance in 2027. If e sure for them, a party with 34 governors and 85 Senators and over 200+ House of Reps members won't be jiltry about an opposition and trying so hard to remove them from the ballot.

What's Bola Ahmed Tinubu afraid of?

If you had delivered like you promised in your campaign manifesto, you wouldn't be here seeking the favour of INEC to do a dirty job for you. 2027 will be an interesting year.

    1. Did APC also caused Peter Obi to port from APGA? Keep blaming APC for his political errors

    2. And the most disturbing thing about this protest is that, it is uniting the ADC more.

This party crisis is bringing them together and they are already closing out loopholes and personal interests.

I think Tinubu should just warn Nafiu Bala for misleading everyone and return ADC to David Mark.

    3. You speak too quick...wait for primaries and the rest, you will see who is who...They are all calm now and watching each other...uniting indeed....

Watch how they will use obi to achieve their aim of taking the presidency back to the North...it is so sad that he fell for their sweet talks...

    4. Someone on X said,

      1. All the “big men” came out. No right thinking Policeman will give the order to fire tear gas on David Mark, Amaechi, Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso etc. It would be career ending for that officer.

      2. The protest was very very sudden. No prior notice. Everyone was taken on aware..

Me: Protest in Nigeria shouldn't be announced, it should be spontaneous. Unless you want VDM and Sowore that are known government sponsored to hijack it.

    5. 🤣😄.

Agreement is agreement. Applying Wike's chorus would have helped a lot.

Continue to hype against a foregone conclusion. That's what makes post election loss of poor planners sweet.

  3. A whole party that can not follow due process, is it a must for David Mark to be the chairman?

  4. I hope they have gathered the money needed to hire serious lawyers that won't bungle basic cases. There are 14 more laps to go based on self inflicted aversion to due process and this is even before the primaries.

  5. That's how it should be. Way to go! Not everything should be announced to the hearing of the opposers. If it was announced prior, Tinubu and Wicked Eike would have frustrated the plan...
