President Bola Tinubu has reshuffled his cabinet, sacking Finance Minister Wale Edun and replacing him with Taiwo Oyedele. He also sacked housing Minister Dangiwa and replaced him with Dr. Muttaqha Darma .
The outgoing ministers must hand over by April 23, 2026.
The Presidency says the move is to boost coordination and strengthen delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Taiwo Oyedele was brought on because Wale Edun struggled with his health recently. I wish Wale Edun very quick and complete recovery. He performed excellently and was one of the brightest stars in the cabinet, if not the best and I appreciate the President alluding to his stellar performance more than once . In the early months when Nigeria had to commit to reforms and balance the books despite naysaying from ignorant and opportunistic chances who made the same promises, this man held firm and the rewards are clear today. Imagine a subsidy financing Nigeria in today's world. Despite international upheavals, no fuel queue for starters and no salary delays in the public sector for the last 3 years.
ReplyDeleteGood leadership is him being given the opportunity to take Oyedele by the hands and give him an orientation. I trust Edun will be only a phonecall away at all times.
Given the choppy international waters of finance and the sweeping success of needed reforms, Edun and Cardoso have written their names in gold. Oyedele and Adedeji have also proven themselves the past few years. All the best to the money team.
Let's see how it goes
ReplyDeleteHopefully, the new brooms will sweep clean...
If truly Mr Edun has been battling health issues, he could have honourably tendered his resignation when the ovation was loudest .
ReplyDeleteHe has served well. over to the incoming gentle Man.
