Actor Uzor Arukwe Shares How He Lost His Day Job and How He Reacted.

Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe recently shared how he was fired from his job at a telecom company in 2012.
He said he worked in the company’s retail unit and led a “geek force” team.
The group helped customers learn how to use their phones, apps, and data better. One day, he went to work as usual and found that the company was investigating why they sold so much data yet weren’t making enough money.

Uzor said his team got caught up in the probe. Someone had to take the blame, and it fell on him. He described the moment they let him go: “It was quiet. You just hear silence.”

He had to hand over his ID card and laptop, then walk out of the office on Banana Island feeling like an outcast. He walked all the way to Lekki in shock.
Uzor said the hardest part was not telling anyone. “I couldn’t tell anyone. It was terrible.” His parents and family held him in high esteem because he had done well in school and in his early jobs.

He said he was on track for a promotion to manager before he was let off.
He admitted failure felt too heavy, so he kept it inside for a long time; even his mum didn’t know for years and he stayed jobless for over a year after that and during that time, he turned more towards acting and built a career from it till date.
