
The former Director of Defence Information, who served from 2015 to 2017, was kidnapped on May 30, 2026, along with his wife, Hajiya Amina Abubakar. They were on their way to a wedding when armed men attacked their vehicle near Matazu in Katsina. Their driver managed to escape with injuries.
According to the state government, the retired general died in captivity due to complications from diabetes and hypertension. Officials said both the government and security agencies made serious efforts to rescue him and his wife, but the attempts did not succeed in time.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda described his death as a painful loss to the family, the state, and the entire country.

ReplyDeleteThis is one of the dangers of being kidnapped. I have elderly relatives who survive on different daily medications. Imagine if one of them is kidnapped and no access to their medicines for weeks. Na kpai be dat.
