According to reports, the suspects are serving officers in the Rivers State Police Command and Zone 16, Bayelsa State.
Investigations revealed that the officers, while armed and operating tricycles (Keke), which are banned in Rivers State, allegedly carried out illegal stop-and-search operations on unsuspecting members of the public.
Victims were reportedly forced to reveal their bank account details and ATM PINs, after which money was transferred from their accounts without their consent.
The police said about ₦7.8 million has so far been recovered from the suspects.
The officers are currently under investigation and are expected to face further disciplinary and legal actions.
