The agency said the exercise is to enforce the Federal Government's ban on the production, importation, distribution and sale of such products.
NAFDAC officials are currently carrying out inspections in markets, motor parks, bars, shops and other outlets across the country. The agency warned that anyone found producing, selling or distributing the banned alcoholic drinks risks seizure of the products, sanctions and possible prosecution.
According to NAFDAC, the ban is aimed at reducing underage drinking, alcohol abuse and substance misuse, especially among young people. The public has also been urged to report anyone selling the banned products.
Smart move and highly commended. The rate at which people consume these things at motorparks is indeed alarming. And the vendors selling them sell without considering age restrictions.

ReplyDeleteAside the alcohol abuse aspect, it is damaging the environment. The plastic wrappers and bottles are now added to the already plenty plastics and nylons we are already contending with.
