They were arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a 10 count terrorism charge, including kidnapping, aiding terrorist activities, illegal mining, concealment of information and incitement. According to investigators, the suspects allegedly conspired with others between January and May 2026 to abduct pupils and teachers in Orire.
The government also accused the men of professing membership of Darul Salam, described as an affiliate of the proscribed terrorist group Ansaru, responsible for severe harm and human rights violations. One of the suspects, Abdulrazak Umar, faces additional allegations of providing terrorist training and inciting violence through a WhatsApp group.
