NMA Raises Alarm Over Shortage Of Doctors In Ogun State

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has raised alarm over the shortage of medical doctors in Ogun state.
According to their alarm, there is currently just one doctor for about 7,500 residents, and there's about 1200 doctors currently serving an estimated population of nine million people.

According to the association, Ogun State requires between 5,000 and 10,000 doctors to provide proper healthcare service to the residents.

  1. Nigeria, in fact Africa as a continent is going through a brain-drain phase.
Shortages of competent hands across all walks of life.

May God help our future generations to come

  3. God abeg! God abeg!! God abeg!!! 😔

This is worrisome. It will be so bad if we will have to travel to other states just to get basic treatments. No wonder nurses keep telling patients, " No doctor on seat." Chai! 😔

  8. It is worrisome that most of our hospital do not have enough medical personnel, I have been on waiting list just to book appointment for my surgery now since May, I have been told to wait till August ending, I just pray it will not be shifted again. Nigeria Government should wake up to their responsibilities.

  9. Whomever the minister of health is, they better get on this before it becomes more complicated. I detest when they wait until a matter they know about becomes critical before they try to do anything about it. You know a serious problem exists now, then start working to resolve it before ppl start dying
