Senator Oshiomhole Urges Nigeria Govt To Seize Profits from South African Coys To Compensate Xenophobia Victims
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has called on the Nigerian government to take strong action against South Africa over attacks on Nigerians. He wants the government to use profits from South African businesses in Nigeria to pay those who lost shops, homes, and loved ones.
Senator Oshiomhole on July 7, 2026 pointed to a South African minister who said no compensation would be paid to Nigerians affected by the violence. In his words, Nigeria should respond by taking money made by South African companies here, including banks like Stanbic IBTC and use it to help the victims instead of spending Nigerian taxpayers’ money.

A brain dead submission. Nothing stops the South Africans from quietly divesting or outrightly selling controlling shares to nationals of other countries.
ReplyDeleteIt will be better for government to either raise the effective tax rates these South African companies pay (this will quickly get shut down by the courts) or create a fund where a percentage of these companies earnings get channeled to. Won't be long before the fund gets looted dry though.
