  1. 13 months? That's why the date will keep going back, by 2038 they'll be 8-9 behind the remaining part of the world in date.

  5. Probably practiced locally cos Ethiopia isn't an island of it's own. They relate and sign deals with international bodies though very moderately and these deals would be signed and recorded in real time. Will read up more on this though.

  6. Key points to elaborate on:

Ethiopian Calendar Difference: The Ethiopian calendar is unique and distinct from the Gregorian calendar used by most countries worldwide. The difference of about 7-8 years arises from different calculations of the birth year of Jesus Christ, which is the basis for both calendars but interpreted differently.
Ethiopian New Year - Enkutatash: The Ethiopian New Year is called Enkutatash. It does not fall on January 1st like the Gregorian New Year but instead begins every year in September. This marks the start of the new year in Ethiopia.
13 Months in the Ethiopian Calendar: Unlike the Gregorian calendar, which has 12 months, the Ethiopian calendar has 13 months. Twelve of these months have 30 days each, and the 13th month, called Pagumen, has 5 or 6 days depending on whether it is a leap year.
Cultural and Historical Significance: The Ethiopian calendar is deeply rooted in the country's history and religious traditions, particularly Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity. It reflects Ethiopia's unique cultural identity and historical continuity.

  8. You gotta respect Ethiopia, the only country in Africa never colonized, successfully fighting off all those who tried. Has one of the longest history with Crhistianity, with only Egypt being longer, as it is where Christian was birthed. Ethiopia fully knew Christianity hundreds of years before Europeans. Their Bible has 88 books, they did not omit anything. They speak the same language Jesus spoke. Ethiopian Jews have a true Jewish lineage, even more authentic than the settlers in Israel. Drop dead gorgeous people and a country that is beautiful and clean. Hats off to these people, may they go from strength to strength.
