Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno has revealed that he once sold akara and bread in his early days. In a video shared online, he said he called the combo “akara burger,” simply opening the bread and placing the akara inside for customers.
He explained that the small business was highly profitable, bringing in not less than ₦10 million every month at the time. According to him, many people, including workers heading to ExxonMobil, bought the akara burgers, sometimes with coffee.
Governor Umo Eno is widely known for building a successful hospitality brand. He founded Royalty Hotels in 1997, started small and grew it into a major company serving the oil and gas sector. He has also spoken about earlier struggles, including hawking soft drinks in Lagos to support his family after his father's death
