Well it depends on how big the damage is, if it's a minor thing I think the school should just warn the child and the parent then do it, but if its something hugh I think the parent should take the responsibility of doing it..

The parents should be informed. If it was maliciously done then the parents should stand the full cost of repair or replacement. If it was a genuine accident then I hope the parents and school can work out a mutual agreement on restitution.
