Comedian Lasisi Elenu Begs President Tinubu And All Governors To Fix Nigeria’s Broken Hospitals

Comedian Lasisi Elenu has shared an emotional video pleading with President Bola Tinubu, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu, and all 36 governors to urgently fix Nigeria’s collapsing healthcare system.

He described the country’s hospitals as shameful, sad and disturbing, saying Nigerians are now one sickness away from the grave due to lack of bed space, oxygen, blood, basic medicine and proper records.
Lasisi recalled how his mother was moved from one federal hospital to another in 2022, all saying no bed space, until his brother who is a doctor used personal connections to secure a bed at FMC Lagos (Federal Medical Centre).
He also lamented the mass exit of doctors, saying medical workers leave daily because they see no future in the system.

Lasisi urged Nigerians to take their health seriously and prayed that no one falls critically ill during what he called a dangerous period where human lives are not valued enough.

  2. Of all the things that scare me about everything going wrong in this country, the terrible state of our hospitals and healthcare system generally is number one.
We can always pray against sickness and all that, but the reality is that people will fall sick and will need to go to the hospital. They deserve the best care if and when this happens.

People who have had one or two reasons to be in a hospital, either public or private, have one scary report or another to share. Yet, these wicked people in power travel to other countries, see how things are done, and still choose to remain wicked and selfish.

It’s so disheartening, honestly. I hope they find the heart to do something about it, and urgently too.

  3. I watched the video and I understand what he is talking about first hand. Four hospitals: Lasuth, Luth and FMC and military hospital Yaba rejected a patient after so many rejections from private hospitals. We finally found one private hospitsl at Ilasamaja . (May God bless that doctor though he worked in one of the hospitals that rejected the patient at least he was empathetic,)that took him. Thank God.
I can never forget the doctor at Lasuth, he said this one is dead already.
If you like wear uniform and be following them for campaign when it happens to you, you will know the extent of the rot.

    1. Would that be appropriate justice. They don’t care about fixing the system because they have visas and can travel for medical tourism. As soon as they or their loved ones get ill, see them fly out quickly. When the president before this one needed a Tylenol for headache he flew out for it. There was no hospital suitable in the nation he governed that was good enough for him and he did not try to build on during his tenure. They are all despicable

  7. If people begin to recount their hospital experiences, no one will go home today. Me for starters, became HIV positive due to LUTH negligence in the treatment of blood received into their blood bank. I underwent surgery and was infused with infected blood. Its over 30 years now and i thank God for my life and ARVs. It is well oh.

  8. The problem is deeper than that, Western world hospital is also for the highest bidders. Health system all over the world are being hijack by the rich just to make money, even in some countries where you pay Health insurance, some hidden details will be brought out to stop them from paying for some treatment. it is so deeper than we common people realise. The world is in a very dark place.
