After days of intense deliberation, the jurors sent a final note saying they could not agree, leaving the judge with no option but to end the trial.
Clancy, who admitted to killing her three children, had argued she was suffering from severe postpartum mental illness, while prosecutors maintained she was fully responsible for her actions.
With the mistrial now declared, the case returns to the prosecution, who must decide whether to retry, renegotiate, or shift strategy entirely. A new hearing has been scheduled to determine the next steps.

I really dont why the jurors could not reach a decision!

One of the jurors was compromised
ReplyDeleteI followed this trial back-to-back and I 'm disappointed it ended this way. I really believed that the jury would come back with a verdict of not criminally liable by reason of mental Illness. After listening to the evidence presented by both sides,it was clear that Lindsay Clancy did not murder her three kids just because she was tired of motherhood. She was clearly suffering from post-partum psychosis. I wonder why that one juror couldn't agree with the other eleven jurors and get it over and done with. I don't think either Patrick or Lindsay could survive another trial.
