Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of lying about the alleged N50 billion funding from the Federal Government for the upgrade of the Ibadan International Airport. Wike, on Monday, claimed that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration supported the Oyo State Government with N50 billion for the airport project, but Makinde denied the claim.

A man identified simply as Tosin has reportedly been killed by suspected cultists after he was allegedly robbed in the Egbin area of Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos State. It was learnt on Tuesday that the incident occurred on September 15, 2026 after Tosin travelled from Ondo State to attend an event in the community. According to a source, Tosin briefly stepped out of the venue while the event was ongoing, when he was allegedly accosted and attacked by some hoodlums.

A schoolchild is missing after a flood swept through a section of the Nibo–Isiagu Road in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, with the police launching a search operation for the child. Nine persons, comprising seven schoolchildren and two adults, were rescued from the flooded route following heavy rainfall across parts of the state between Monday and Tuesday.

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, and their commercial driver after they were abducted along the Daye–Malumfashi Road in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State. The victims were abducted after armed assailants attacked a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina on Monday.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has told the senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, that she will not return to the Senate in 2027, as he defended the FCT Administration’s borrowing for infrastructure projects. An independent 10-member panel has been inaugurated to investigate the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners who died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State. The panel was inaugurated on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in Abuja, following a directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday charged chairmen of the 774 local government areas to ensure that their councils do not become breeding grounds for political violence as the country moves towards the 2027 general election. The President asked the council chairmen to adopt zero tolerance for political thuggery, intimidation, hate speech and violence, warning them against allowing young Nigerians to be recruited for electoral violence.

A 52-year-old man, Alaba Ayeni, was found dead inside a domestic well near Lamp Bearers Islamic School, off Asa-Dam Road, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The Kwara State Fire Service said firefighters recovered his body on Tuesday after receiving an emergency call at about 8:42am.
The incident was reportedly discovered by Children who immediately alerted nearby elders. The well was also close to his home.
Firefighters recovered the body and handed it over to the police for further investigation.
The Chief Fire Officer, Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to properly cover wells and other open water sources. He also advised parents to keep children away from dangerous areas and called on community leaders to secure unsafe places.
The Fire Service expressed condolences to Ayeni’s family and the community.

The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency has warned residents about fake or adulterated palm oil and advised them to be careful when buying it.
Experts say some palm oil is being mixed with harmful substances, including illegal dyes, used cooking oil, and other chemicals. Fake labels and records are also being used to hide adulterated products.
Consumers can check the colour and appearance of palm oil as a first step, but experts warn that this alone cannot prove whether the oil is safe.
The agency plans to increase market inspections and testing across Lagos. It also advised residents to report suspected fake palm oil and dishonest sellers through official channels.
The agency’s boss, Afolabi Solebo, urged lagosians to shine their eyes and report suspected adulterated palm oil and unscrupulous traders through the Agency’s official channels.

Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has inaugurated a nine-member Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the deaths of 37 persons who died in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Niger State Command.
Bago inaugurated the commission at the Government House, Minna, on Tuesday, shortly after its members were sworn in by Justice Muhammad S.A. Muhammad of the Niger State High Court, who is also the chairman of the commission.
The governor congratulated the members and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the state government and the people of Niger State.
He said the commission had four weeks to complete its assignment and submit its findings.
