Joseph said he had gone out to play pool when he spotted the woman with cash he had never seen before. The sight “moved” him, so he waited and robbed her. He told reporters that if he had been a better thief, he would have escaped, but the police arrived quickly and took him into custody to avoid mob action.
He said:
“I even thank the police for coming to my rescue. If not, maybe I would have been killed. I went to play pool and saw a lot of money the woman was counting. I have not seen such money before, so I was moved. I do not steal, I struggle to get money, but seeing that money, I had no choice. If I was a good burglar, I would have gone. After the operation I got the money, but I could not escape. The police did their job. They rescued me and recovered the money.”
