The actor had taken Lere Olayinka and INEC to court over the alleged publication of his voter registration details on social media without his consent.
The incident happened in May after Olayinka shared information that showed Emeka had transferred his voter registration from Imo State to Abuja.
Emeka argued that the publication violated his fundamental right to privacy and the protection of his personal information. He asked the court to award him N10bn in damages and order Olayinka to remove the post and tender a written apology.
Olayinka, however countered his claims maintaining that the information published contained only Emeka’s name and passport photograph, which he claimed were already in the public domain. He also denied unlawfully accessing the actor’s personal information.
While INEC, on the other hand, argued that the information was not confidential and it had not suffered any external breach of its database.
Following the court’s decision, Emeka expressed his disappointment, questioning how people could seek justice over alleged violations of their fundamental rights and still leave the court without the relief they sought.
