The letter, which he shared online, comes after more than four decades of separation. In it, Fatai says he is putting pride aside and speaking from a humble heart. He writes that the pain of the lost years has weighed heavily on him and that he has tried to reach out in the past to make peace.
Key parts of the message include: “Dad, I am truly sorry. Please, find it in your heart to forgive me.” He adds that no matter what happened, Chief Okoya remains his father and he will always be the first child. Fatai says he is not asking for the past to disappear overnight. He only wants a chance to heal, make peace, and start again while there is still time. He ends by saying he loves and misses his father and hopes love will speak louder than the pain of the past.
Chief Razaq Okoya is the founder and chairman of the Eleganza Group, a major Nigerian manufacturing company known for household products, plastics, jewellery and other goods. He is one of the country’s well-known industrialists and also holds the traditional title of Aare of Lagos.
There has been no public response from Chief Okoya or any official statement from the family.
40 years???? Ah ah, why wait this long?????????????
Well Alhaji is a great and kind man and will definitely forgive his son but he is also smart ...
I hear THE WILL is signed and sealed...

ReplyDeleteLife is not just about money. We all will surely pass away someday.
ReplyDeleteFake apology.
ReplyDeleteEvidently, because your Dad disinherited you from the will.
There's no basis for that conclusion. I inherited plenty from my late pa but I authorized my immediate younger brother to share it among my siblings.
DeleteI was earning my own money at the time and I had zero interest in wealth or riches, or excess material possessions.
I am not religious. I just have an aversion for the rat race called "wealth creation." Living a simple average life gives me great joy.
Anon your 2nd paragraph makes me wanna give you a big knock on your head.
DeleteSee wetin I dey find u go misuse am
13:56 I understand you perfectly same mindset as my siblings and i. We haven't touched anything my dad left behind and we are all doing very well.
DeleteThey are muslims and under the Shariah, he cannot disinherit his biological son no matter what happens. With the Will he wrote, he is only allowed to give out a certain percentage of his wealth, the rest will be shared according to the sharing formula contained in the Quran which must be adhered to so long as they are muslims. So there is nothing like he cale back because of the Will. Will or no Will, his share must be given to him when Alhaji dies.

At anon 13 : 56, I applaud your mindset 👏, its beautiful to see people living in contentment and not stuck in the rat race...
DeleteI see wealth as a means to be a blessing to bless my world, more like my finances is God's own, I am just a distribution channel to support his works and his people all over the world.
Waited till 40years after? Thank ur God that his memory is still intact bcoz I often see him being held while walking, otherwise, how would he have remembered whom u are & read ur apology? How would ur conversation with him flow? Coming after one person had taken everything? I still remember socialite Biola Okoya (daddy’s bestie then) & friends , at every high profile party. Encomium/Gist Cafe’ things.Chai, I used to look forward to Tuesdays for my Encomium Magazine. No more RHI & Exclusives from Stella.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's about the Will, his dad could have passed earlier without them resolving their issues. For 40yrs he kept off,he wasn't bothered about the Will,he could have also passed without resolving with his dad.I thank God they are both alive to settle their issues and move on.
ReplyDeleteof cos its about the will, that's why they tried to do shade dirty recently ....There's news in town that he is cleaning out his will and some names are not in...Shade is in charge of everything...so why now? Did you see where he mentioned FIRST SON???? that was intentional!!!
DeleteAnon 14:37, that is not how it works under Islamic law and Alhaji is a muslim, so his estate would be shared according to the shariah when he is no more. Will or no Will, he CANNOT disinherit any of his biological kids, whether they have been enstranged for a million years, so far he is the dad and he had never denied being the dad, that child must get a share of the estate, down to what he would get, as in the fraction, he already knows, because it is contained in the Quran. As muslims, there is a sharing formula, a wife knows her share, parents (if alive) know their share, male kids know theirs, female kids too know theirs. So he didnt need to do this because of the Will, may be regret set in somewhere along the line.
DeleteWhatever will be will be.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteIt Is Well ooooo
Hello Iya Boys
40 years is a long time to hold a grudge against your father.
ReplyDeleteA will can be legally contested either by challenging it's validity or by claiming that it fails to make reasonable financial provision.
ReplyDelete40 long years 😦
ReplyDeleteWell, it's good he's doing it now that His Dad is still alive to see it.
I hope this apology isn't becuz of inheritance
ReplyDelete40 yrs? That's a whole lot of time to keep grudges.
ReplyDeleteThank God both of you are alive to make peace.
One of the many reasons I strongly hate polygamy!
ReplyDeleteThis wouldn't even have happened in the first place if not for polygamy.
40 good years! A Father and his Son?
HmmmHmmm!!!🤔🤔🤔
What was his offence?
ReplyDeleteGenuinely reconciling is very important.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a long time but we don’t know the whole story or if both sides have tried to make amends in the past or what caused the feud whether the son father or a 3rd party enemy. In any case my prayer is that there’ll be reconciliation and God will heal both hearts.
ReplyDeleteAll of una we dey talk will will no no anything abiut these men . Some of them are surviving on bank loans. The gbese wey dey some of them neck hen...
ReplyDeleteHow old is he? He cannot apologise for the childhood years when he lacked power to make his own choices. That apology is just strange.
