Both the husband and wife were living with HIV, and they were aware of their status. The woman had accepted her situation and continued with the marriage.
The man, however, allegedly had a long history of infidelity. He confessed to several affairs, begged for forgiveness and promised to change. She forgave him and gave the marriage another chance.
Only for her to later discover he was still cheating — this time with a corps member in his office.
What made it worse was the allegation that the young lady was unaware of his HIV status.
The wife decided to expose him. She sent the young woman a picture of his antiretroviral medication and told her the truth.
Some people blamed the wife, saying the young lady could spread the information and subject him to gossip and stigma. Others supported her for protecting another woman from deception.
Thankfully, the young lady got tested and was HIV negative.
But instead of admitting the truth, the man told her his wife was lying out of jealousy and trying to destroy him. The story claims he has now abandoned his wife and is ready to move on with the young lady.
If he eventually marries her, the truth will surely surface. And when she discovers he knew his status all along but hid it, the consequences could be devastating.
For me, the wife remains the biggest victim. Imagine being married to someone who allegedly infected you, forgiving him after repeated cheating, only to discover he is still carrying on with another woman — and then he leaves you for her.
It is heartbreaking.
Still, this story should not be used to stigmatize people living with HIV. HIV does not make anyone dirty, unworthy or incapable of having a normal relationship. With proper treatment, people living with HIV can live healthy lives, and an undetectable viral load prevents sexual transmission.
The real problem here is deception and infidelity.
The young woman deserved the chance to make an informed decision about her relationship and her sexual health. And the wife had already endured years of betrayal.
Was she right to expose her husband’s status to the side chick, or should she have handled it differently?

Errrr. .In my opinion, maybe cos I am different, I would run from the mf,(the partner) take care of myself, let him go be with his desired side chick.
ReplyDeleteSame thing I thought. Poster coming access as pick me”. Let the wife move on . Nobody tie her
DeleteThe wife should just let him and be with the lady, because the relationship will not last and if he comes back, she will say no to his behaviour..
ReplyDeleteToo bad!!
The wife should have told the young lady anonymously. It is wrong to take a picture of someone’s medication and put out there. If the adulteress decides to continue with the relationship then that is on her.
ReplyDeleteThe wife should be grateful he will soon be out of her life and his own problem to deal with in the world. She is finally free of the garbage marriage that was built on sand anyways.
