In the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/466/2026, Achimugu had asked the court to determine whether the EFCC’s actions were lawful. She also sought enforcement of her right to privacy and requested an order restraining the EFCC from further harassment or invasion of her home. Part of her claim included a demand for ₦10 billion in damages for what she described as an invasion of her privacy.
Justice Liman ruled that Achimugu and her legal team failed to provide sufficient grounds for the damages sought. He dismissed the monetary claim and stated that nothing prevented the EFCC from carrying out its statutory duties. The court concluded that the suit lacked merit, describing it as frivolous and filed in bad faith.
Reacting to the judgment, EFCC counsel Emenike Mgbemele said the ruling served the interest of justice and argued that the suit had been an attempt to waste the court’s time.
