Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that Uzodinma did not win the May 18, 2026 APC primary monitored by INEC. The court declared former governor Rochas Okorocha the actual winner and directed the APC to submit his name for the January 16, 2027 election.
The judge also set aside INEC’s earlier publication of Uzodinma’s name, saying his nomination violated the Electoral Act and APC guidelines. Okorocha filed the suit in August after INEC listed Uzodinma despite evidence from the primary results.
This ruling reshapes the battle for the Imo West (Orlu) senatorial ticket ahead of 2027, with further legal steps still possible.
