Man Accused in Rapper Tupac Shakur’s 1996 Killing Gets 40‑Year Prison Sentence .

63 year old Duane “Keffe D” Davis, the former South Side Compton Crips gang figure linked to the 1996 drive‑by shooting that killed Tupac Shakur, has been sentenced to 40 years to life in prison.

Investigators finally nailed Davis after years of his own public admissions, including interviews and a memoir where he openly described being in the white Cadillac used in the attack and helping plan the retaliation that led to Tupac’s death.
Detectives said his repeated confessions made long after other suspects died gave them the breakthrough they needed to charge him.

He was sentenced on October 13, 2026, after the court ruled that his role in supplying the gun and coordinating the hit made him directly responsible for the murder of the 25‑year‑old rap icon.

Davis remains the only person ever charged in Tupac’s killing, because he is the only one alive that was directly involved.
This conviction from self confession closes a major chapter in hip‑hop’s most notorious unsolved case.
