NANS President, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, said Daniel reportedly complained of a headache and was given medication by medical personnel at the camp.
According to him, Daniel’s condition worsened after taking the drugs, and he requested to be taken to a hospital. However, approval for his transfer was allegedly delayed, and he died before he could receive further treatment.
Afeez claimed that a doctor later identified the drugs as fake and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Daniel’s death.
NANS expressed condolences to Daniel’s family, friends and the Akwa Ibom State University community, adding that further action would be communicated in due course.
