Police Corporal Unalifes Girlfriend And Himself

Corporal Amos attached to the Ajaokuta Division of the Kogi State Police Command allegedly unalifed his girlfriend, also a police officer, and then turned the gun on himself on Friday night, October 23, 2026 ..

The incident happened around 9pm. The officers have been identified in reports as and Woman Corporal Grace. According to accounts, Amos was on night duty as a station guard. He resumed around 6pm but later left his post and went to Grace’s quarters. There, he reportedly unalifed her with an AK-47 rifle before unalifing himself.

Sources linked the tragedy to ongoing relationship problems between the two. They had been dating for years, but trust issues and claims of infidelity had grown in recent months. The disagreements reportedly turned physical at times, and the Divisional Crime Officer had previously detained them and advised them to end the relationship for peace.

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed it is aware of the incident and has opened an investigation.

  2. I don't understand why some people can't just walk away when a relationship isn't working out. The whole essence of dating is to figure out whether someone is right for you. If they are, go ahead, if not, keep moving!

  6. They should put an end to long years relationship. Relationship (courtship) should not be more than 6 months, then preparation for marriage should start. All these long years relationship without direction dey tire women and when they find a serious and willing man, they get un-alifed. This is not fair.

    1. @ABIONAH, I understand the concern behind your argument, particularly when people spend years in relationships without a clear direction.

However, I do not think the length of the relationship is the central issue here.

Two people can date for six months and still encounter possessiveness, violence or an inability to accept rejection. Another set can date for five years and separate peacefully when they realise they are incompatible.

The issue is not simply how long people date. It is what they learn about each other during that time - short or long; how they handle conflict, manage accountability, and whether they respect each other's independent existence.

  8. The prevalence of cases like this is worrying, especially for those of us who value peace and struggle to understand such acts of callousness.

But one thing I have come to realise is that perceived sacrifice converted into entitlement, followed by an inability or refusal to accept the reality of the loss of control and direction, is often the trigger for this type of decision.

Especially where you are in a relationship with an unforgiving person who naturally harbours bitterness, whose sense of resentment combines with entitlement, a desire for revenge, a refusal to accept separation and a willingness to override their ex-partner's right to live freely after breaking up.

That's the way I understood the male officer's decision, or people who take such a decision as their only choice. Which is the wrong way to act out pain: becoming so consumed by what you believe you have lost that you destroy what remains, including your partner's life and your own.
