PROMPTED GIVING

'Perfect love casts out fear.' 1 John 4:18 NKJV


We've looked at priority giving a few days ago. Now let's look at prompted giving. From time to time, God will prompt you to make a special gift. God uses promptings to communicate that you are in a unique position to meet the needs of his Kingdom. As you walk through life, God constantly introduces you to people with needs. Sometimes it's a spiritual need; other times it's a physical need. Sometimes you are the one in need, and other times you provide what's needed. This is how the church works.

As stewards, we have the privilege of interacting with our heavenly Father and ministering to the needs of his children in the world. Without the element of prompting, your giving could become very cold and calculated. Promptings are the pulse in the church body. In 1 John 3:17 NIV, we read, 'If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?' God uses the needs of others as opportunities to exhibit his love alive in us. And often those opportunities are revealed through special promptings that are above and beyond our regular giving.

Perhaps you're thinking, 'I'm nervous of giving more.' Factor God into the equation! Not only can he use you to meet the needs of others, but he can also multiply the seed of generosity you sowed into the harvest you need. When that happens, your fear will have met its match, because 'perfect love casts out fear' (1 John 4:18 NKJV).

And you see distance ba? It isn't measured in miles. It is measured in money.

When your pockets are empty, the distance to your house magically doubles. When your pockets are empty, your house sits on an unmappable island. Lol 😆 When your pockets are empty, the road to your door is always under construction. The commute is too long. The schedule is too tight. The transportation fare is too steep. Everyone is wrapped up in their own busy lives. But na wa oooo 😒 why life con be like that??

Poverty doesn’t just take away your options...it takes away your presence in people’s lives. It turns you into a ghost before you are even dead. Poverty has a quiet, painful way of erasing your address from people's minds. Poverty creates a quiet kind of isolation where you are forgotten by the very people you expected to show up. Poverty doesn't just shrink your bank account; it shrinks your social circle...it takes away your visibility.

But the moment your story changes? Suddenly, the road to your house is paved. the GPS works perfectly. They find the time. They find the energy. The expensive fare no longer matters. Suddenly, your house is a tourist attraction, the traffic clears, that long, complicated route to your front door becomes a straight line. The distance shortens. The same distance that was once a struggle becomes a pleasant weekend drive. People who forgot your name miraculously discover your address.

It is one of the heaviest truths you will ever have to accept: people often love you based on what you have, not who you are.

It hurts to realize that your value to some people is tied entirely to your net worth. But instead of letting that realization make you bitter, let it make you focused.

When your big break finally comes, and it will...remember the layout of your old map. When you finally make it, you don't need to look back in anger, you do not need to punish the people who forgot you. Just deeply cherish the few who remembered you when you had nothing to offer but your company. Just look around and see who is still standing there...the ones who shared their last loaf of bread with you when there was absolutely nothing to gain........Instead of letting the realization make you bitter, Use it as fuel. Use it to bless the few who sat with you in the dark, not to entertain the crowd that only showed up for the lights. Protect your peace from the crowd that only showed up for the after party. Protect your circle by honoring the rare souls who walked with you when you had nothing to offer. Protect your character by never looking down on the places you used to pray to escape. Hold tightly to the few who walked with you through the dust, and stay grounded enough to remember what the view looked like from the bottom.

Build quietly. Build your circle based on who saw your worth, not your wealth. Do not build your success out of spite. Do not spend your energy trying to get revenge or prove a point to people who did not care. Build your future for your own peace, your own dignity, and the security of your children. Do it to give yourself peace, dignity, and options...not to get revenge. And you know what? Your success will map out exactly who belongs at your table.

May your hard times show you who is real, may your good times never make you forget who you are, May you never be too poor to be remembered, and may you never be too rich to remember where you started.

I remember when Oshodi be like hell fire. No space to pass, people go dey jam each other like say na rush hour we dey. In front of you, Dem go dey pick person pocket and you must not say anything, else, na one blow for your eyes.
