The Chairman of the NLC, Mr. Emmanuel Ademokun, said on Thursday December 13,. 2013, that he was beaten to stupor by thugs allegedly sponsored by the state government.
He made the statement while speaking with newsmen after the state chapter of NLC and TUC embarked on an indefinite strike (which has been called off) over unpaid allowances by the state government. It was alleged that worker who were trying to enforce the strike at the Palm House Secretariat Complex located along Sapele Road, Benin City, were ambushed by thugs and beaten up.
Contrary to his claims, a video has emerged of how Mr Emmanuel Ademokun instigated thugs to attack directors and permanent secretaries in the State. In the video, he said, ".......We will leave here and move round, any director we see in the office, we are going to push him out of the office" After which they match to various ministries, beating up workers and ordering them to lock up their offices.
