Attention Nigerian Navy - Naval Officer Brutality Against An Unarmed Civilian

THIS IS A SHAME!.......it keeps getting worse and now even Naval officers are taking the law into their hands......Read a victim's story.

''On Friday 25th of April 2014 at about 6.10pm, in front of Silverbird Galleria Ahmadu Bello,Victoria Island Lagos, where i was trying to park in a space pre-occupied by another car hence I needed to wait for him to move so I can occupy the empty space.

Apparently, a naval Toyota Hilux was behind me all the while then found a way to move from behind me to my side and I was asked by one naval personnel occupying the passenger’s seat what I was doing on the spot, then I replied that I was waiting for the car in front of me to move out of the car-park space so that I can park. The naval personnel abruptly got down from the Hilux and tried to pull me out of the car then he slapped me, tore my shirt and then kicked the door with his boots on - to my surprise he also kicked and broke the glass of the driver’s seat which I occupy.

While he was harassing me, the other naval officer who drove came down and was trying to pacify the former naval personnel perpetrating all these nefarious acts but he refused and made sure he broke the glass of the car then they both immediately got into the Hilux zoomed off.

At this point I was devastated and felt cheated so I drove speedily after them till we got to the Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island Lagos. Unfortunately, the guards at the gate hurriedly allowed them in and turned me back. There was a bit of protest around the dockyard with some civilians(women) who followed me from the scene after seeing the unjust measures meted at me at the scene but the protest did not last long as we were evacuated from the vicinity of the dockyard by the gate guards.

Eventually, I went to the nearest police station and reported all that happened. However, one the women that witnessed this ignominy left us with her number and told us to call her if she will be needed to testify.  Also, a friend of mine was in the car that witnessed all these mess and was smart enough to take pictures at the scene including the faces of the naval personnels.

I Hope the Nigerian Navy authorities would look into this sincerely and justly because they need to put their house in order as we were told at the police station where we reported, that a bus conductor was killed by a naval personnel during the week.

I hope these perpetrators would be punished for their misconduct and this can serve as an example to others if not it will only mean we are no longer safe in our homes anymore .
Thank you.''

    2. Dear poster, it's quite unfortunate wat happened to u, those men r rating staff of the navy n are yet to start climbing d ladder in ranks. U need to follow up wit pressing charges cos d last person dat took them to court for harrassment, won n was compensated wit 100m. We all still remember d lady that was striped naked on muri okunola yrs back. Yes, she is rich now.
I hope u have other pictures of urself n ur car. But a video would have been perfect.
Dat been said, u never mentioned dat u were obstructing traffic, u were blocking one side of the road as u were trying to pack. This is d reason I hate to drive tru dat road or even visit d galleria. D road is too narrow.

  7. All these uniform men give me the creep. I thought police were the only mad men,sk naval officers are now included... And I had great respect for them.. Oh well....

  8. What kind of picture is this na. You didn't even capture their number plate.

Too many animals in this country now oo. Is it the water we are drinking or the air we breathe ni. I can't comprehend this abeg.

What happened to the good old days when officers of the law were feared and respected because they portrayed the image of discipline, calm and comportment. Yet you'll know that behind that soft and kind look is strength and a man the would lay down his life to protect his country.

Could it frustration or what ? I think it's time they begin testing these people for psychological/pathological disorders!

    1. Nope. Frustration. Plain and simple. The noise from gens alone can drive a sane man mad.
I am serious Nigeria is a woeful country o and its ordinary people that are suffering. Everyone is half mad when everythin is a struggle. Gen noise, no light, no water, no petrol. Why people no go de crase na.
Only thing be say uniformed people should be able to put their own crase in check. That's the responsibility behind the uniform they wear.

  9. Just like that? I am speechless. I think the military and paramilitary should conduct psychiatric test before employing. I tend to agree with the saying "many are mad, few are roaming" Guy, let sleeping dogs lie. One thing is certain in life, every man shall reap whatsoever he sows

  10. In fact 90% of Nigerians need to be tested. Have you seen the way they invade people's personal space. Your on a queue and it finally gets to your turn, just as your being served, someone will just come and be talking to the person attending to you and their body will rest on you like you know them.

Always in a hurry to go nowhere and do nothing! Many of them are jobless yet they will be rushing, driving recklessly.

The one that annoys me most is when they want to ask you a question and they just come and tap you as if their mouth is glued together.

It all comes down to lack of patience and respect for one and other. If not what would it have cost those idiot to wait 2mins and let him park. And the aggression in them is soo high that they just had to touch him! Even if it meant breaking his glass

@poster, sorry....u will now have to use your money for repairs you didn't cause.

  12. Thank God you captured their faces. It would have been better if there was a picture of the guy harassing you.

Get as many blogs a possible to post these pictures, use twitter, use facebook, employ the power of social media till this goes viral. Sche, it is when something goes viral that the authorities are forced to act. Nonsense, put a man in power in Nigeria and all he knows is how to intimidate people. mtschew!
