Ebola Alert And Things You Need To Know.

Did you hear that the dreaded EBOLA Virus has entered Lagos?

Things you need to know about Ebola Virus ...

1. It is a Central African disease that has travelled over countries in a living host to West Africa. It is easily spread by physical contact and eating contaminated bush meat. Major hosts are in 5 species of Bats but monkeys and apes are easily infected and killed.

2. It kills in a week, leaving no time to treat an individual.

3. It has no known vaccine or cure

4. Known cases have been experienced recently in Guniea, Liberia and Central Africa Rep, spreading eastwards and westwards towards Nigeria. Death toll so far in West Africa is over 100.

 5. The Ebola outbreak of 2014 is the most challenging one witnessed in Africa.

 What we can do?

1. Avoid eating any bush meat for now! Especially Apes and Bats.

2. Wash your hands as regularly as possible, especially after shaking a stranger. It is spread by contact.

3.The most straightforward prevention method during Ebola outbreaks is not touching patients, their excretions, and body fluids, or possibly contaminated materials and utensils. Patients should be isolated, and medical staff should be trained and apply strict barrier nursing techniques (disposable face mask, gloves, goggles, and a gown at all times).

Traditional burial rituals, especially those requiring embalming of bodies, should be discouraged or  modified.Awareness is key, don't just read or ignore...spread this campaign before the virus spreads! If you are doubt this, check it on google.

    5. *** EBOLA ADVICE *****

An Ebola case has been confirmed in a hospital in Lagos, through a Liberian who came into Nigeria. We therefore all need to be aware of the necessary preventive measures to take in reducing or stopping the spread of this deadly virus in Nigeria. Staying away from that hospital will not in any way, stop it's spread among the people. The man obviously sat in the plane with Nigerians & other passengers, he also passed through the airport officials. Liberian basically greet by hand shaking & hugs, so you can't tell how many people he might have greeted since coming into Lagos. Therefore, please get for yourself & children personal hand sanitizers to be used as frequent as possible (like every 30 minutes). Do not buy and eat any fruit directly without washing it first very well. Do not drink directly from "pure water" sachets. For now, you might want to stay away from eating any meat that you do not know it's source, most especially our lovely 'Suya'. Also, try not to put your hands into your mouth without using a sanitizer first (for those of us that bite our fingers a lot, we need to consciously stop for now). Try to avoid too much hand shaking for now, or immediately after, use your sanitiser. Ebola can be spread through contact with body sweat saliva & all body fluids. So take caution when you sit in the 'danfo' buses & remember when you kiss... (that one :() Avoid eating meat from apes e.g monkeys and its families. Generally, avoid having contact with all body fluids. Bathe as often as you can. Prepare your meat by yourself, if possible. Lastly, get more information about Ebola, it's free on google! Please spread this message.

  15. Please,i want to say something concerning d 15yrs old girl in d previous post. I dnt think the man will ever marry her,for those of u sayin that d guy is grooming her. If he is truely grooming her for marriage,i see no reason y he wl allow her skip school jst to come and f**k her and do house chores for him. the man is clearly wicked and i doubt if d girl s parents are aware of this. Poster,if i were u,i wldnt speak wt d girl,i wl trace her house and anonimously report to her parents. Am a mother and heaven knws dt my conscience wldnt rest until i do the needful thing. If d girl s parents are aware, then no wahala. My conscience has been cleared. Was suprised my fellow women r in support of this. MayGod continue to protect our children frm such things .amen

  20. Hi Stella, this advisory is coming a bit late but like they say, better late than never.

I am on my way to the United States and some of my colleagues are already in UK to get the requisite kits to handle this menace. I must tell you that we are looking at an epidemic. While you may have read that 30 people who had contact with the only known victim are being tested, in reality we are looking at over 3000 contacts.

I specifically asked the ministry of health to activate emergency procedures at the Nations ports of entry but I got the usual " God forbid" and "covered by the blood" response.

Now we are dealing with something we aren't even adequately prepared to handle. Medical facilities do not have the hazard suits and do not know the protocol for handling these cases. Its sad.

Please sound a note of warning to everyone. Please read this WHO document and be informed and guided. EBOLA IS HERE http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs103/en/
