Episode 1 

 Purity Before marriage /Pre-marital sex/Sexual health/Abstinence

What is purity?  According to the oxford dictionary purity is freedom from sexual immorality.

1 corithians 6 verse 18 and 1 Thessalonians 4: 3-5 states that we should flee from sexual immorality. From the bible we can see that God demands sexual purity from us and purity begins from the mind.

Questions people ask regarding sexual purity

How can I love without sex:  Your mother loves you and she doesn't have sex with you lol “just kidding” if you want to be certain about someone’s love for you kindly check 1 Corinthians 13, we   recommend you check out the message version. Those are the fruits of love, if someone loves you they must exhibit most of those traits.

How far can I go in a relationship (aka I kiss, I  smooch but I don't penetrate):

Sexual activities within a relationship is a progressive thing from kissing, to smooching then you graduate to other activities until you eventually have sex. we advise that you do not go far. Stay clear from anything that will defile your heart. Foreplay, heavy kissing, smooching and sexual intercourse are all under the same umbrella. It’s like going to a cinema for the sole aim of watching the preview of an interesting movie. I bet you will eventually watch the main movie. 

I am happy to have sex, but I don’t want to get pregnant before marriage: 

The Nigerian society is a hypocritical one, My sister you can have sex but you don't want to get pregnant before marriage????? So you simply just want to fulfil all righteousness by passing the pregnancy test in your church right? 

That's not purity, purity is the state of your heart and mind, and it is about rendering your body as a living sacrifice unto the lord. People who have premarital sex, without getting pregnant fall under the same category as those who have kids outside wedlock, the latter category is probably better than you because some have sinned, they have a baby and have turned their lives around. We are against pre-marital sex, but we are also not in a position to judge those who have kids outside wedlock. In case people want to judge you understand the fact that, it’s your past and you can turn your life around now.  You are not what the world calls you. You are who God calls you, he calls you a royal priesthood. In conclusion we cannot continue in sin and pray for grace to abound, our stand on this is stay pure (body, soul and spirit). What defines you is what the bible tells us.

Is virginity a trophy? 

My sisters and brothers, virginity is not a trophy, what God is particular about is your heart. We are clearly not encouraging you to lose your virginity, but if you've lost it . You can start anew by being celibate. Purity also entails having a good character, we see a lot of virgins around with bad characters, they lie, they cheat etc. Some of them even work around the rule, they engage in oral , anal sex  just to keep the hymen intact. WE therefore do not see the unbroken hymen as a trophy. The trophy is the ability to stay away from all sexual immorality and all forms of iniquity. Flee from all appearances of evil. 

If I don’t succumb he would leave me: 

let him go, if he wants to leave you , you have a bright future  ahead of you, your future is too bright for any man to manipulate. If he leaves, you must personally ensure you work on yourself to be a better person 

I’ve done it before I’m not pure again/once you pop you can’t stop: 

The bible says we can’t continue in sin and pray for grace to abound “God forbid”. If you want to turn a new leaf you can start now ask for grace, that's your past and no demon can stop you from starting a new life. Only God owns the key to your salvation no man is allowed to pass judgement on you because of your past, be determined. 

Risk of premarital sex: 

it cuts you away from God, you could also contract sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, Syphilis, herpes, and other forms of STD’S, which  could have impact on fertility e. t. c .

Being pure comes with advantages

• You get to connect better with God, your mind is free from guilt and you present your body as a living sacrifice unto the Lord.
• Purity helps with self esteem, you don't feel defiled, as a born again christian purity entails staying away from other forms of sin also 
• It enhances rational decision making, break ups are easier to deal with when sex is out of the equation.
• It’s actually a test of integrity and discipline, if you can conquer your body you can conquer anything.

In conclusion: Say no to premarital sex, encourage the man to pop the question early lol “just kidding “. We encourage you to work on your total package not just keeping your hymen, try and stay away from other sins. You can stay pure by having connection with Jesus, read your bible, your value should be based on God’s word not just religion, mind what you read stay off pornographic materials, study God’s word more, praise God more, be in a state of peace don't be restless with that you can make rational decisions, don't fall under peer pressure, have a good self esteem. 

You can also create a diary to record how you feel, if you have the urge talk to God about it, get busy with your purpose, have good friends who share the same value with you. It must be noted that sex is a very strong force,  that can cause soul ties. We will expantiate on the topic of purpose in the upcoming series.
