Funke Akindele's 'Jenifa's Diary' Debuts On TV In April

You have asked for it and Funke Akindele has finally answered! Jenifa's Diary, a comedy TV series following demand for the undying character, Jenifa has berthed and TV audience are in for Jenifa's laugh and learn' experience.

LMAOOOO

Set to captivate Nigerian TV audience from April, Jenifa's Diary  is a comedy television series that depicts the hilarious and amazing adventures of Suliat,  a.k.a Jenifa.

A secondary school dropout turned hairdresser who lives in a backwater town called Aiyetoro.
Jenifa is loud, over-bearing and very opinionated. She nurses the ambition of leaving her community and making something of herself. She is always trying to prove her worth and wants to be recognized and 'feel among'.

Her competitive spirit with her peers comes to the forefront when she realizes many of her friends in Aiyetoro are in higher institutions.  Jenifa is motivated to leave her community and pursue her dream of attending a higher institution and becoming a huge success and to enhance her status in Aiyetoro.

Jenifa manages to borrow and even swindles one of her illiterate Aiyetoro 'toasters' to raise enough money for her exodus to Lagos. Jenifa's Diary follows this epic, comedic journey as she arrives in Lagos and lets all hell loose!
Jenifa's diary will be another innovative, ground breaking Nigerian comedy concept.

Jenifa is particularly attached to her diary in which she writes down her daily experiences and uses the medium to involve the audience in her thoughts and actions! Everything that is written in the diary including the grammatical errors, is transcribed unto the screen and the medium of Jenifa's voice-over sharing her thoughts further magnifies her quirks and eccentricities!

With unexpected turn of events, Jenifa's adventures will take her from the streets of Lagos to high class shows to the corridors of universities which she does not attend, from crowded school hostels to Adult Education classes and back to the streets of Lagos, all in her quest to gain admission into a higher institution. .

Jenifa's Diary still open to corporate sponsorship, promises to be one of the greatest comedies in Nigeria's television history.
Directed by Edmund Eraibe, it is  funny, educative, entertaining with pristine performances and  a rich  flavor set to change the face of drama comedy on Nigerian TV.
It is a perfect set with  robust  cast and  cameo appearances from Banky W,  Beverly Osu, songstress, Waje, Wunmi Obe, DJ Spinall, Amaechi Muonagor, Ali Nuhu and Alex Ekubo , each with their charm and delivery make for an amazingly rich comedy experience.  Other talents in the TV series showing on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), African Independent Television, (AIT),
And Silverbird TV on DSTV include Lota Chukwu, Kunle Afod, Juliana Olayode Tope Adebayo, Pa Ojoge, Olaniyi Afonja (Sanyeri), Bash and a lot of fresh faces with promising talents.

Looks interesting!.

  6. This woman is doing well. Building so much out of a trivial storyline and making hits. Goes to show that 'it's not what you do, but how you do it'. Stephen King can make a novel out of 'onions' and still sell. Find your niche........ Kudos Funke!

    1. Love funke, but if she uses her old typical accent i will shoot myself. Please let jenifer have a crazy best friend, If not it will be dead. That's why those 2 short guys captured our hearts, they were 2 different people a talking about akin and paw paw.. sure those guys acted in 200 movies, but we still liked them.

In my opinion the 2nd jenifer was dry, so please let this one be intreasting let her accent be better. But let her mix with classier , funny and intreasting people. Lets see her trying to be an island babe.

  24. Sorry to digress. On the last picture by the left with the man in uniform( is that military uniform or police?). Anyway the point I'm trying to make is that not only is the man carrying a glass cup with a liquor inside in his hand but also wore a flip flop and not a uniform shoe which was so tacky. Wow!!' That was so distasteful of him. Only in Nigeria. This guy is nothing but a disgrace to all the men in uniform and should be fire for being a disgrace to the profession. I'm sorry, but how do we expect him to do his job in the best possible way when he looks like he is drinking a liquor? This is why the robbers always overpowers them. The only person in danger here thinking they have a guard in (Mr Foolish) is the crew. #verytacky #veryunprofessional #verydistasteful #veryoffensive

    2. @ Quilsilver. Are you telling me to loosen up or what? If you are referring to me toosen up, then something is definitely wrong with your frozen brain. How dare you said that. You need to come down to US and see how an officer should look. I guess looking this tacky is one of the reasons why the police officers weren't respected and treated the way they should in Nigeria. Instead of using your minutes to leave such a stupid comment, perhaps you should use it to search on goggle and see the picture of a police officer in US and Europe dummy

English is my 3rd language and if you can speak and write french, Spanish and Portuguese the same way that i do, then come back to critique my English foolish bully. For someone like myself that speaks 3 official languages, I give myself the crefit for knowing how to write English too. Practice makes a perfect and I'm on my way there

ErErrrm, which crowd asked for the continuation? I thought it ended already after adding MI, Banky to the shower with her travelling abroad. .. Nigerians like to overdo things.

In other news, Happy belated birthday to the one and only La Katie. God bless your new age boo. Where did you turn up? Guess who's coming to town? Dum dum is coming to town. I just answered you la Katie.. I want some cake please. Red velvet.

So hubby and the boys are doing what they do best while I'm hugged to the bed, with the dstv remote in my hands and going down on my full bowl of gummies. New craving.

I'll await the result whether rigged or not. Damn, who am I kidding, after it has been rigged.

  39. Ohhh no no no Funke has over flogged this jenifa character and the jenifa English biko. She should allow this character a rest and venture into something else.

It was potluck that jenifa made a hit, as there was nothing in it that hadn't been acted out before. Fortunately it struck her audience and she made a hit from it, but her subsequent attempt at comic weren't as good. Ok..save for omo ghetto, which was quite nice too, but didn't need a part 2.

The novelty of jenifa has dwindled, and she can't seem to want to leave it alone. This will be another prolonged and unnecessary drama that will most likely flunk the comedy test. I love Funke, but comedy isn't her calling. Like I said, jenifa was potluck.
