The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), has sacked Stephen Keshi as coach of the Super Eagles, after they found him guilty of applying for the Ivory Coast job.
A statement by the NFF Executive Committee on Saturday said this decision was made, “having thoroughly reviewed the reports/findings of the NFF
Disciplinary Committee and NFF Technical and Development Committee, as well as having reviewed the actions and inactions of Mr. Stephen Keshi, in the performance of his duties as Super Eagles’ Head Coach, which we found to lack the required commitment to achieve the Federation’s objectives as set out in the Coach’s employment contract.”
The statement went further: “To this end and pursuant to the provisions of Clause 4.3 of the Employment Contract between Mr. Stephen Keshi and the NFF (The Contract) and the various clauses therein, the Nigeria Football Federation has decided to exercise its option to summarily terminate the employment contract of Mr. Stephen Keshi with the Federation with immediate effect.”
It added that the termination was “without prejudice to the settlement of any existing and due financial obligations between the NFF and Mr. Keshi.”
Confirming the development, NFF vice-president, Barrister Seyi Akinwumi, said the decision was taken in the interest of Nigerian football and thanked Keshi for his services.
Akinwumi then added: “In the interim, the Super Eagles’ team affairs will be jointly managed by Assistant Coach, Salisu Yusuf and the Technical Directorate of the NFF headed by Coach Shuaibu Amodu, until the Federation names in due course a new Head Coach, who, along with the NFF will chart a new direction for the Super Eagles to ensure credible participation in international competitions and assist in building a sustainable football culture for the country.”
The Big Boss only signed a two-year deal to return as Nigeria coach in April 2015, after his initial deal ended after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

As a human being,Keshi probably suspected that after the last drama that saw GEJ calling him back,that a sack was imminent... I do not blame him for spreading his net. Most of us would have done same!
Sure its a disgraceful exit for him. When he saw the sign, he refuse to resign and save himself from this embrassment NNF put to his face.

ReplyDeleteNFF is ruled like a family business when they can`t control the manager ,it results to sack keshi wasn't ready to have his head bent to the level NFF wanted it, Which is good cos who so ever they cn control will not only fail to achieve anything ,the person also becomes indecisive in selecting players. We wish him well let's say who NFF employs.
ReplyDeleteHe deserved to be sacked, even after lying about CIV application he was still found guilty. Keshi is not what Super Eagles need at the moment our football team high spirit has drastically dwindled the past years. NFA should forget foreign coach as they can't afford it rather appoint our legends Okacha and Kanu who will command respect among young players both of them are rich and not hungry for the peanut NFA will pay them but will rather focus their energy in making a great team as they did as captains am sure both lads will do better job than Keshi. If they are not qualified as coaches send them out on short intensive coaching course is for our future benefit.
