Daughter Cries ''My Father Has Been In Detention Without Bail Since 2009 In Nigeria''

This Sad report came in From A BLOG VISITOR whom I will refer to as Lady X
Please if any crime reporter wishes to follow up on this story, please contact me for Lady X's phone number. This is unbelievable!

''My Father ANTHONY MERIBE from Umuoma Onicha Ezinihitte Mbaise received a call from PANTELLION CHIBUIKE OBIUKWU (same compound) on this fateful day 15/02/2009, that his elder brother GODWIN OBIUKWU has broken into our house and stole most of our belongings which is not usual as he has been known for doing that and more in the community. My father left ABA on that day to the village to check and only to find our house door broken down and open and most items including building materials gone.

My father confronted GODWIN OBIUKWU which he admitted that yes he took the items and carried a matchet and chased my father. GODWIN and his brothers has been very well known in the community as armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists. People have reported this family to EZE and locked them up many times in owerri yet they got bailed and continued to terrorise the community.

My father and Godwin had a fight and he mentioned where he kept some if the items and the people he sold it to and my father returned back to ABA. 1week after this incident my father received a call from HYCINTH IHEKORONYE (Godwin's in law) to come to village that Godwin is not well. My father went to the village the next day and reported himself to ITU police station as advised by the elders just to be on safe side but he was detained and was taken to State CID owerri and detained again for 5months without the case going to court, bailed or investigation carried out. Power of money. Godwin eventually died and my father was blamed for his death.

My father has been in prison in wederal road owerri since 2009 up until today the 11/08/15 without BAIL. His case file has been stolen more than i can remember, my father was charged for murder even when Godwin was still alive without the police investigating into the matter all because of BRIBE.

All this people have been taking bribe from both families from day one nonstop and because we refused to pay any bribe my fathers file has been recently missing AGAIN.
Former state prosecutor MR K ANYANWU
Former judge of ABOH MBAISE high court MRS OGWURUIKE
State council's messenger Aboh Mabise till date CHUKWUMA MBONU AHAMBA

We have recently lost our mother all because of this same case. My family and I want justice and need GOVERNER ROCHAS OKOROCHA, Chief Judge of Imo state PASCAL NNADI, human rights commision in nigeria MR CHIDI ODIM KALU and MR BEN ANGWE to please look into this case URGENTLY please that's all we are asking. We need our father out so we can bury our Mother in peace and those behind this evil setup punished''.

    5. Na wa o. While I empathise with ur family, dear poster, there's something not clear about ur narrative. At the point when ur father returned to the village upon hearing that Godwin was sick, why was he advised to go to the police? Did he have any prior unsettled issue with them or what? As it's unclear to me why they would just lock him up when he actually walked into the station himself.

I'm not trying to scrutinize u o, this is just a normal question someone who's just getting to know of this case would ask. Once that is clear, I think you'll get the help u need.

  7. Was it not a physical fight? A normal case of using machete to chase someone? From this story, ur father is not at fault except if he signed an undertaken that if anything happens to Godwin, he should be held responsible. This country self

  16. Onwelu ka akuko ahu si di. If I read correctly:
    1. Your father was called by Godwins' brother to report the Godwins' theft of your fathers property, yet Godwin and his brothers are known criminals?
    2. Your father confronted Godwin and he owned up. Yet Godwin chased your father around with a machete.
    3. When your father was informed of Godwins' illness, he still went to the village to see him despite the bad blood?
    4. Then upon his arrival at the village he was advised to report himself at the police station. Why if I may ask?
    5. If I may ask why havent your immediate family hired a lawyer instead of bribing the police if we are to believe this narrative?
This your narrative paints a picture of family feud brewing for only God know how long. Despite my dislike for the Nigerian police, they cannot be that senseless as not to investigate a matter yet charge your father to court.
If I may ask on what grounds was your father charged to court?

  25. Stellz we only knw bout dis cos poster has d means to cry out. There are plenty cases like dis oh. Esp in dis lagos. What kills Nigerians is ignorance. Under the Nigerian Law, a suspect must. Be arraigned before a competent crt of law within 48hrs of arrest. Where investigations are yet to be concluded, then he/she wud be granted bail xcept it's a case of murder. Even @ that, ow in heaven's name wud a persn be detained in a police cell for 6yrs without trial or bail & d family kept mute? There's more to this case mbok

    1. Read before you open your mouth to talk... oga judge and jury with your very lame and unintelligent analysis. Poster said...The case was never charged to court or investigated. ....

      Delete
    2. You have no idea how the Nigerian justice systems works do you? For your information, a person cannot be imprisoned without the court. Bet you feeling all "intelligent" yourself.

      Delete
    3. Oh really!! A person cannot be imprisoned without the court..... take a trip to the prison and check the endless cases awaiting trial since 1900..... or the ones that their case files have been 'missing'. Don't sit in your house and say things you are absolutely ignorant about. Pocket lawyer!!! You have no idea what goes on in the system. Check your facts.

      Delete
    4. Of course, you definitely 'know' how the system works . What I know are the realities on ground...that's the difference. IF you know where the prison is .....go there and ask for 3 random case files. When you're done....Come back here and ANALYSE it and educate me on how the system works.
