Oshiomhole Says Nigerians Now Fares Better Under Buhari

Adams Oshiomhole, the Edo State Governor, said on Tuesday that life is now better for Nigerians under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He noted that in less than three months of assuming office, Nigerians had started to feel the impact of Buhari’s leadership style.

The governor said this during the 27th annual education conference of textile workers in Kaduna.

The conference had as its theme, “Buhari administration: Revival of the textile industry and employment creation.”

“I understand now that electricity supply is stable. It is just the fear of Buhari that led to the stability of power supply,” he said.

He noted that the Federal Capital Territory that was noted for darkness because the streetlights were not functioning, is now aglow at night.

Oshiomhole said it is no longer business as usual, noting that he was proud to be a Nigerian.

“The streetlights were not functioning but immediately Buhari was inaugurated, the lights came up. There is hope for Nigerians under President Buhari,” he added.

The governor called on the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress to end its crisis in order to support the government of President Buhari.

Oshiomhole noted that the collapse of the textile industry was not due to inadequate funding.

He said the industry failed because of bad administration and corruption.

According to him, the textile industry needs a cohorent policy, noting that with President Buhari at the helm of affairs, the wrongs of the past would be corrected.

He asked the Nigeria Customs Service not to aid smugglers, warning that Buhari would not tolerate corruption .

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, who was at the conference, said he was committed to the revival of the textile industry in the state and warned that “anybody that stands against our resolve to revive this sector will be dealt with.”

He said the 25 megawatts of electricity from the Gurrara Dam would be channelled for industrial use in the state and urged the Federal Government to speedily complete the Kudenda Power Plant for the same purpose.

Can this man shut it already?

How are Nigerians faring better? We are hoping things will get better, this man must be dreaming, seriously.

The naira is seriously devalued, CBN has all sorts of (unnecessary) checks and restrictions on debit card usage outside and within the country, hyperinflation wan kill people, job creation has reduced and over dependence of the economy on oil / underutilisation of other sources of revenue is yet to be addressed by the government of the day.

As far as I know, power supply always improves during the rainy season due to increase in dam water volume so that's not a reliable test of what Buhari has done.

Before Buhari supporters come at me with bared fangs, I'm not saying The last administration did better.
I'm simply saying the man has done nothing yet.

Nigerians have high hopes. Oshiomhole should face his work and stop talking abeg. Last I checked, Edo state was no Eldorado.

Madam Stella, shouldn't it be '...Nigerians now FARE better'? Instead of FARES. I might be wrong though. I thought plural noun goes with plural verb.

    1. Oshio didn't work in his state agreed but don't talk about bypass. Bypass was created to ease traffic in the state. Even most lagosians pass through epe cos they want to beat the berger and co traffic.

Talking intelligently is very important when you're criticising.

    2. Sorry Lafresh but you are the stupid one here. You need to learn how to read and understand. He/she said travellers use the bypass now. How is that different from what u r saying. And if you must know, travellers used to avoid the bypass cos of robberies. The roads are terrible in town now, that's why they even bother with that bypass

  10. Stellz, I have seen a remarkable change in the power sector too and I know I speak for a considerable number of Nigerians too.

Power outage for up to five hours, is now an unusual thing in some states.

I hope it's going to be a permanent thing though.

The streetlights thingy is also true is some states too,my area especially.

But that should not be 1/8 of the change we expect abeg.

There's still a long way to go.

    1. But do you honestly think it's the fear of Buhari that's making power constant? Is it the fear of him that's generating the additional power or the investments in power generation and distribution made towards the end of GEJ'S administration?

How is it possible that all this progress in the power sector was achieved within a short period of time with an empty treasury? GEJ may not have been the best candidate for the job, but it's annoying when people like Oshiomole make such unsubstantiated claims.

The fear of Buhari this ...The fear of Buhari that..... Is he Lord Voldermort? These politicians should let Buhari do his work in peace.

With the continued depreciation in the value of the naira and hyper inflation. How can he make such a careless and insensitive statement?

  20. Oshiomole's lips must be sagging by now from kissing buhari's arse on an almost daily basis! Oga, judge phcn performance when the rainy season ends and we enter dry season. Power distribution is usually at optimal levels during the rains because we depend on dams.

He has not kept one election promise, even the declaration of assets...all the inning around going on is cos of a new government on seat and will soon calm down...

.shebi, he has started settling Tinubu with FIRS consultancy. , Oshomole wants his own settlement too , this one he is leaving office..... and to think I was a PMB supporter...
