- The National leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has said it does not know the ten persons currently being held in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, for electoral related offences. Addressing newsmen in Benin City on Monday on behalf of the National President of the NUJ, Waheed Odunsile, the chairman of the NUJ in Edo State, Roland Osakwe, said the suspects were unable to provide any form of identification linking them to any media house.



- Three people were on Monday reportedly killed in fresh Boko Haram attacks in two communities near Chibok, in Borno State. The insurgents suspected to be fleeing from Sambisa area attacked Bovkari at about 2pm and went further to attack Kuburmbila village around 3pm.



-A prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of Mr. Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, on Monday testified against the former aide to ex-President, Jonathan, stating how he changed millions of dollars to naira for the accused. The witness, a Bureau De Change operator, Alhaji Murtala Bashiru Abubakar presented his Samsung phone as an exhibit, through which he received text messages of some of the transactions.


-The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Kaduna State branch, has threatened that it would embark on strike over non payment of entitlements to primary school teachers. It further threatened that if the government does not reverse its decision to sack 9000 primary school teachers in the state, it will have the strike action as the only option. This was disclosed by Audu Amba, state Chairman of the union.


- militant group, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, on Monday said it would continue to bomb oil installations in the Niger Delta since the current government of President Muhammadu Buhari has remained insincere in its negotiation with militants in the region and cannot be trusted.


- The President of African Development Bank, AfDB, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, had disclosed during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Villa that the bank would give Nigeria loan facilities of 4.1 billion dollars between now and next year just to assist it to come of the current recession. Adesina addressed State House Correspondents on the plan after meeting with the president and his economic team.


- The Nigeria Labour Congress has further threatened to embark on a nationwide protest to resist the plan by President Buhari and his economic team to sell off the nation’s assets, stating that the effect of such action on Nigerians would be grievous. NLC President, Ayuba Waba made the threat on Monday in Abuja.


- Production of crude oil in the Niger Delta may have witnessed yet another set back following the shut down of Trans Nigeria Pipeline as a precautionary measure after fire was seen on the right of way at Gio community in Ogoniland. Shell suspects and fears militants’ attack, hence the need to shut down.


- The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has asked the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami to transfer the N50bn MTN Nigeria paid to the NCC’s account with the CBN. This demand has been pressed forward via a letter to the Minister and disclosed by the Executive Vice Chairman, Prof. Umar Dambatta on Monday.



-  President Muhammadu Buhari has approved new appointments in 13 Federal Government agencies.
They include; ITF Director-General Mr.Joseph Ari, NITDA Director-General: Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim, Nigerian Content Monitoring BoardExecutive Secretary: Engineer Simbi Kesiye Wabote, SON Director-General: Aboloma Osita Anthony,
BPP Director-General:Mamman Amadu, PTAD Executive Secretary: Barrister Sharon Ikeazor, NEPAD National Coordinator/CEO: Princess Akodundo Gloria, PEF Executive Secretary: Alhaji Ahmed Bobboi, Oil & Gas Free Zone Authority Managing Director:Umana Okon Umana, National Commission for Refugees, Migrant and Internally Displaced Persons- Federal Commissioner: Sa’adiya Faruq, NRC Chairman: Engineer Usman Abubakar, PTDF Executive Secretary: Dr. Bello Aliyu Gusau and NIPC Executive Secretary: Yewande Sadiku

interesting news. Govt shouldn't dare sell any national assets again. the ones that was sold in the past..what have we gotten from it,in fact it has worsen the situation and the masses are suffering for it,take PHCN as an instance. God help this nation,sorry to say our president looks confused to me and I can't imagine the minister of finance saying that selling national assets will reduce borrowing. OK now. it is well with my country.
