Abia State Gov Appeals To The Nigerian Army To Reduce Its Presence In Aba And Umuahia

Following the recent face off between some soldiers and IPOB members in Aba and Umuahia on Tuesday, September 12th, the Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has appealed to the Nigerian Army to reduce the presence of its officers in those parts of the state.

On Tuesday, some military officers had a clash with IPOB members when they tried to access a road close to the leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu’s home in Umuahia.

IPOB members who were on their way from Aba to Umuahia to protect their leader had a faceoff with the soldiers, leading to the death of 7 of their members.

Governor Okezie last night, had a meeting with Traditional rulers and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) commanding the 82 Division of the Nigeria Army Enugu, Major General A.B. Abubakar, at Government House Umuahia.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Enyinnaya Appolos, the following are the highlights of the meeting:

1. The Governor and the Traditional Rulers appealed to the GOC to reduce military presence in the state, particularly at Aba and umuahia, as tension in the areas have gone down.

2. That the Nigerian Police and other security agencies should ensure that those who are brought into Abia from other states, in order to cause trouble and engage in acts capable of causing breach of law and order, should be prevented from entering the state.

3. That Traditional Rulers should further liaise with HRH Eze I.O Kanu (father of Nnamdi Kanu, Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB) to further explore ways of restoring peace and normalcy.

4. That Abians and those who do business in the state should go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation, while desisting from acts capable of causing the breach of peace in the state.

They should keep on making Nnamdi Kanu their demi-god till they all get wasted.

  9. WELL they should have thought about this when Kanu was inciting so much hate and brainwashing all the touts in the state.
now Kanu is silent and the touts and poor are the ones suffering.
Forget house arrest, the man needs to be picked up asap and there will be peace.

  12. Ipob members have done no wrong, they are just agitating. Brainless and dummy Buhari thought he will silence them by using soldiers, impossible! If boys without guns can face soldiers with all these killings for good two years now, what happens if they pick arms, do you think those soldiers will defeat them? Buhari is fighting a lost battle. Nigeria is a failed country and will surely break up.

    1. Who are the boys without gun? You think a sane government will be looking and remain quiet with what you guys are doing out there after you have been brainwashed by Kanu?
You think you can create a state out of Nigeria just like that by creating biafra secret Santa abi service and pasting it for the world to see?
Where were you and Kanu when Jonathan was running the affairs of Nigeria? Seems you all just wake up now to ask for biafra with force.
If you guys wanna go, do things the right way, you have representative at the house of assembly, go and present your case there or go to the world court.
Buhari is in power, he's a military man and won't condone nonsense from any corner of this sovereign state called Nigeria.
His just is to keep us together as a nation and he's doing it!

    3. You guys keep forgetting that Nigeria is a federation. Take your agitations through the right channels and be consistent on what you want while ensuring that it is achievable. Don't go asking to secede because you won't get it.

  14. Surprising that when fulani herds men were kiling indigenes of benue state, there was hardly ever millitary presence. Same for when muslims were killing christians in southern kaduna. Now dat it concerns hausas, the nigerin army has swung into action yet some say we are one nigeria

  15. This is just the beginning, those miscreants will be hit where it counts if they don't want peace to reign in that region.
Who's suffering now ? The people, Kanu is hiding in his house quietly. He won't go free anyway, that I know. Buhari is the president.

  16. Let me try respond to the so-called highlight of meeting.

1.) How can they claim tension has gone done, na so tension de go down in an hate-filled neighbourhood? With the tension, military presence as a fact should be increased. The IPOB supporter need be taught lessons, hard lessons at that.

2.) No comment as the highlight is a no brainer!

3.) Why liaise with the father and not the funny hunched backed son? Are they afraid to face the moron?

4.) The humbly people are the ones suffering the actions of the jobless lots. Pity

Now, Casualties are happening and the yeye somebody is cooling his head somewhere, family safely tucked in a foreign land. People will die in mass for the senseless guy. Just a pity the morons are blindly following this guy.
