DeleteI'm a non Igbo married to an Anambra man, a first son and my mil hates me. And she has always made it known but I guess she got tired of playing nice and she put me on full blast.
ReplyDeleteHubby tried to intervene but she was adamant and some of her kids supports her so she thinks it's okay to treat me however she wants.
Truth is, my mil sees me as an outsider that used juju to trap her son. PS, hubby was broke when I married him as a matter of fact he was still squating in his mother's house before and after our wedding, until we finally moved out when the trouble kept multiplying. Whatever we have today, we both worked hard for it.
Hubby got tired of trying to make her change and he restricted her access to our kids. He's of the opinion that if she can't take me as her child then she doesn't deserve to be in our kids' life. Like, you cannot hate the mother of my kids and then pretend to love my kids.
I tried to talk him out of it but my hubby is his mother's son he is as stubborn as she is.
My kids don't even recognise her anymore, we ran into her recently and they carefully avoided her like I taught them to avoid strangers. I was so embarrassed and people around noticed the drama. My youngest even started screaming when mil tried to kiss her, I had to quickly leave that place.
I told hubby about it and he laughed it off but I could see the sadness in his eyes.
My Sil that's quite close to me called to ask what happened because she doesn't trust the version of the incident her mum told them at home. I explained everything to her and she told me how mil has started bad mouthing me again, saying I have also used juju to turn both my hubby and my kids away from her.
I am honestly exhausted! This is how she will call the entire family now and add untrue things to what actually happened to make me look evil. I have never tried this hard to be accepted in my life.
Hubby is very okay with this whole arrangement but I'm not! It's killing me. I'm a peaceful person. What do I do?
Eayah, you dont have to kill yourself. Just continue doing what makes you and your family happy. Still be the daughter inlaw that you are. One day she will come to love you. Also continue praying, bacause there is no overdose in praying.

Thanks dear. I've gone through it. The problem now is he's scared that I might be risking my life and that of the baby. His family doctor already discouraged him. Now he's going to travel out since we can't end up together. It hurts be that he's weak. People say he did it because he loves me but all I see is weakness. AS still have a choice. Its just the backwardness of our country that's making us look like we don't. I wish things will just turn around😢
