President Bola Tinubu will be leaving Abuja on Sunday for Lagos where he will celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration. This was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Saturday.


The Chief Whip of the Senate and senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has rejected the recent hike in electricity tariff. In a statement made available to newsmen, Ndume condemned the move and called on the Federal Government to reconsider its position in the interest of Nigerians.

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has expressed shock over Thursday’s communal clash, which claimed 19 lives in Agojeju-Odo in Omala Local Government Area of the state. The Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Ismaila Isah, in a statement on Saturday, said the governor regretted the ugly dimension that the communal clashes in the area have assumed.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas has said that the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the State Government to investigate the immediate past administration in the state ought to have been started from 1999-2003 and 2011-2015 when 70 per cent of government properties were sold or fraudulently allocated to friends and families.

 Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralized three terrorists in Kidandan village, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The Nigerian Army in a statement on its official X page said the troops acted on credible intelligence which targeted a terrorists’ group, known for using motorbikes to carry out nefarious activities in the region.

Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has predicted that the All Progressive Congress, APC, will sack the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2027 general election in Delta State. Omo-Agege made this known Saturday when speaking to party faithful in Ughelli, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, who welcomed him back to the state after serving twice as senator and deputy Senate President.

The Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria, ABCON, has appealed to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to adjust its applicable exchange rate below the N1,251 per dollar it pegged for the BDCs. The National President of ABCON, Aminu Gwadabe disclosed this on Saturday in a letter to the CBN Director, Trade & Exchange Department.

 The Nigerian Army has said it is not biased in the trial of soldiers recently arraigned before a Court Martial in 82 Division, Enugu. In a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, on Saturday in Abuja, the army said it was a composite national institution and not an ethnic militia.
