Amotekun Arrests 98 Suspected Criminals Including Fake Madmen Helping Kidnappers

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, has arrested 98 suspected criminals in a big operation across the state. Some of the suspects were pretending to be mad people to spy for kidnappers and robbery gangs.

According to Amotekun Commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the arrests happened during several anti-crime operations targeting kidnapping, armed robbery, drug trafficking, and other crimes. The suspects were paraded at the agency’s headquarters.

Out of the 98 people arrested:
- 60 are already facing charges in court
-38 cases were settled through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
- 13 are still under investigation
Some suspects were caught right at kidnapping spots while trying to carry out abductions. Others were found with drugs or linked to robbery.
A major concern was the discovery of people disguising themselves as mentally unstable (fake madmen). These individuals allegedly blended into communities to gather information for criminals. They would charge their phones secretly, change clothes, and pass messages to plan attacks without drawing attention.
