Africa International Film Festival(AFRIFF)Introduces New Members






“As part of our vision to constantly improve standards in the industry and provide the best services at all times, we are delighted to have several illustrious and acclaimed personalities join the AFRIFF team for the 2013 edition of the Festival.

Messrs Keith Shiri, Andy Amenechi and Norbert Ajaegbu have agreed to lend their expertise and commitment to the aspirations and values of the Africa International Film Festival.”


This statement was made by AFRIFF’s founder, Chioma Ude, recently in Lagos as she filled in journalists with updates on the upcoming festival holding in Calabar from November 10th to 17th, 2013.



The new members are

Keith Shiri.


Zimbabwean born, world renowned international film curator and writer on African cinema, Keith Shiri, joins The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) as the Festival’s Programmer & Jury Coordinator.
He is founder and director of “Africa at the Pictures” and the “London African Film Festival” and Visiting Research Fellow for “Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM), University of Westminster, London”. He is currently on the advisory board of New York’s Focus Features Africa First, a programme that supports and mentors young African filmmakers and is also Programme Advisor to the British Film Institute’s, London Film Festival and was the same for the Venice Film Festival.

Andy Amenechi
One of the founding members of Africa’s film revolution, Nollywood, Andy joins The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) as its Technical Director.
He is the current President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) and also a member of the Independent Television Producers Association of Nigeria (ITPAN), Coalition of Nollywood Guilds and Associations (CONGA), and founding member of Association of Movie Producers (AMP). He has over 25 years cognate field experience in TV, Film and Radio production, encompassing Advertising, Marketing, New Media production and Multi-Media communication, including 20 years as a film Producer and Director, with over 180 directorial credits. A multiple award winner since 1997, he has won over 20 awards.

Norbert Ajaegbu
Norbert joins The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) as its Strategist.
He is the current Chairman of Film and Video Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (FVPMAN). A dynamic personality, he holds degrees in accountancy and law and a master’s degree in business administration. He also has a certificate in script writing and production from Deustche Welle Training Institute, Germany. He is CEO, Ocean Movies and Music Studios which has produced over forty movies.

In conclusion, Chioma Ude reminded that submission of films into the 2013 edition of AFRIFF was still ongoing but would close on the 30th of July, 2013, saying that details and forms can be downloaded from the AFRIFF website, www.africafilmfest.org.
