Attacked NYSC Member To Be Flown Abroad By Italian Firm

Folakemi Akinbode

Miss Akinbode, 26, a graduate Nurse of Madonna University was attacked by two men who have since been arrested...Her right hand was almost chopped off because she refused to hand over a large sum of money in her possession as she returned home from where she was serving her primary assignment in Bayelsa state on Monday August 5,2013..

The two suspects, identified as Ebi Jatto and Weriye Aluwa, who are currently in police custody, it was learnt, were nabbed 72 hours after the attack through the support of the Obunagha community youths as they attempted to sell off Miss Folakemi's mobile phone.

Miss Akinbode who is out of coma and responding to treatment will be flown abroad Monday by an unnamed Italian firm who have taken up interest in the matter.

Its going to be a long journey to rehabilitating her right hand and getting all the nerves functioning again..here's wishing Miss Akinbode a miraculous recovery.

  6. That made me shed tears when I saw the photos of the deep cut on LIB. I wish her speedy recovery.

But if she had handed over the money to them, I'm sure she wouldn't have been in these dealy and painful state. Huh just like wen I was attacked last month, the robbers where shooting in the air sporadically and one stupid man still had the guts to struggle his phone nd wallet with them, ok does he have 500,000 naira in the wallet ? Smh.

Let's always consider our life when dealing with these bitter and frustrated hoodlums.

  7. Chai! My Bayelsa _-_ this is sad... My God is a miracle worker so dear funmi ur healing is already in the pipeline...
It pains me to say diz beht crime has entered the DNA of the bayelsa youth. They're either looking for ways to harrass Deawoo workers, agip workers or rob innocent/law abiding people. Just a little provocation and they'll bring out machetes and knives...

  11. @Somadina.... I've never abused u before becos I'm no fan of cyber bullies.... But that ur statement of her giving the money to prevent this, was a very stupid one! It's cyber trolls like you that would have vehemently argued that she planned it with the crooks should it have happened any other way. Or are we not in Nigeria again? I've seen a case where a young girl working wiv one bureau de change was kidnapped and her bosses money *18 million naira* was taken away. The girl is still in jail cos the boss and pple arnd did not believe she was kidnapped and robbed.

    1. On the part of the part of the community boys assisting in apprehending the criminals, this shows that security is a collective effort. I guess its bcos of fear for our own lives we do not want to assist wt useful info and I don't blame anyone. Truth is that, criminals are living among humans and we can identify them by their suspicious life style. Take the case of boko haram, if the monarchs and local rulers are genuinely honest, they can assist in fishing out the perpetrators if their hands are clean. I have a cousin who was very delinquent and I remember most xmas hols in the village, the local vigilante which another of my cousin was a member usually picked my bad cousin for questioning relating to crime and we had almost zero rate of crime then. I suggest the local rulers in BH troubled regions be held accountable for security and let's see if truth won't come out
